neither one of my girls really crawled.they didnt like being on their bellies either so i put them in a walker and they loved it. they also liked standing with me holding their hands and letting them walk. so i guess now a days crawling is over rated to babies lol

My twin walked first, the only thing the dr said was they had to teach her to crawl to help with her coordination,

Actually, I read an article on how crawling isn't always what you would define it as. A baby scooting on their bottom is considered a type of crawling. There are no worries if they choose to do it their way. However, if a baby misses a couple of stages then you may want to discuss that with a doctor or an early childhood intervention program to evaluate whether your child has developmental issues. Most kids will learn in their own time though, so keep in mind that your baby could just do things out of order, earlier, or even later than another.

my youngest didn't even roll... Crawled at 11.5 months and walked at 12 months - my eldest rolled at 4 months crawled at 7 and walked at 12 so each child makes their own rules

It does happen, and it's not the end of the world if they do. The only thing I heard is it isn't as good for there back if they skip the crawling stage.

A chiropractor told me this. When a child is born vagionally they get one curve in there spine, then when they crawl they get another. If a baby is born via a C-section and skips crawling then they have a higher chance of having back problems.

Also, your child is only 4 months, most babies start to crawl around 6 months. My son crawled at 4 months and was standing at 6 months. My neace is just crawling now at 6 months, and at about 7 or 8 just started to stand. You can't stop your child from crawling or walking. There going to learn at there own pace, and they'll be perfectly fine. Many babies who skip crawling don't have back issues.

Tummy time (even though most babies scream during it) is very important because it builds up their muscles so it is needed everyday for two 10 minute sessions. She will get used to it after awhile especially when she starts caring about toys. It is possible for a child to walk before crawling and sort of skip crawling but at 4 months it's too early to tell if that will be the case since it is kind of rare. Hang in there when it comes to tummy time and lay down on the floor with her so it's a bit more fun down there for her!

my oldest son didnt craw. He started sitting and standing and after he took his frist few steps running. He is five now and he is no different than my other kids. your baby will be fine. Good luck

I know every baby is different, but I have heard that if the sequence isn't followed, they may have a harder time with other important skills later in life... Here are some articles about it :

I have had the same problem my baby also hated to lie on her stomach. But i kept putting her on her tummy for just a few moments every day and now she is 10months and she is fine with it now. But still she does not want to crawl she is pulling herself up but she does not want to crawl. I have heard of many babies that didn't crawl but it i not good for the hand eye co-ordination if they do not crawl. So it is best to keep on trying she is still small!!

i used to work at a daycare in the toddler room and there was one little boy who NEVER crawled. he scooted everywhere on his butt, then started walking. It's good for your baby to be on her belly for a little while each day even if she doesnt like it. My niece hated being on her belly also (she didnt learn to crawl until she was 10 months then was walking by 11) i put her on the floor for 5 mins each day to begin with. my sister thought that putting her in tthe jumper would be better so she would walk but now the dr is thinking that is why she is so boe legged now at 2 that shes tripping over her own feet. so just be careful with that

Most babies learn to crawl between the ages of 6 and 10 months. Your baby may opt for another method of locomotion around this time, though — like bottom shuffling (scooting around on his bottom, using a hand behind and a foot in front to propel himself), slithering on his stomach, or rolling across the room. Some babies skip crawling altogether and move directly to pulling up, standing, and walking.

My daughter skipped crawling too.. We put her in a Johnny jump up and she loved it!! She was full blown walking at 9 months and hasnt stopped since!!

dont push the crawling walking, they will go at their own pace. My son finally sat on on his own before 6 months, started rawling around 11-12 months and walked little before 17 months. just dont rush it. its the pace they want to go at. my son never liked being on his stomach, we worked with him as he went through each stage to encourage him. just dont rush it

It happens. Every child is different and if you are concerned you can always ask your Dr but as long as she is developing properly physically there shouldnt be anything to worry about.

My son didn't want to crawl at all! It was a mess! After several attempts to teach him to crawl, we gave in to his desire to walk. He stood at four months and was bow legged for a while but eventually his legs straightened and his fine. He's almost three now and he never sits down!

its ok, a friend of mine has a son who walked at 5months he didn't want to crawl. Don't panic if she doesn't want to crawl its ok. My first son only crawled for 2months, but my youngest is still crawling, he started at 4months and he is 9months now, but he is really trying to walk now. Good luck with everything :)

of course its ok, i never crawled but my two brothers and sister all did i suppose i was just in a rush like your daughter :)
