Low lying Placenta, should i be worried?

i had a c-section for my 2nd baby. my third then came along 20 months later. i had a low lying placenta with my third at 12 and 20 week scans but at 34 week scan had moved right away and had a very sucessful vbac. it can happen have hope and dont worry to much just enjoy the mirace of the baby growing inside of you

i have a low placenta spent all day in hospial worried sick to find out we was both fine i had brownish blood an still have it now but my doctor said not to worry an take it easy x

I think you should talk to your doctor about this one...you may have some restrictions as time goes on but the doc would probably let you know when the time comes...if you have worry though talk with your doctor now as stress is not good for you or your baby! Remember, there are no dum questions and it is always ok to ask lots of questions...all the best

Hiya, im in the same situation, at 20weeks i had a scan & was told my placenta was low lying and i was to get a follow up check at 36weeks to see if it had moved any, i had a 4d scan at 29weeks and was told it was still low, ive read online that if it doesnt move by 30weeks, there's not much chance of it moving atall.. as it doesnt move completly it grows, my midwife seams to be warming me up to the idea of a section as she was telling me about resting after it ect... I dont mind geting a section, as long as my little Kaleb is ok.. just was wondering if anyone else with a low lying placenta has experienced pains low down in abdomen... ive not had any blood, exept once at about 7weeks. Mine corrected itself, but it doesn't always correct itself. In which case you would have to get a C-Section. I hope yours corrects. :)

I'm a midwifery student and it depends on whether the placenta is at the front or the back. Most doctors want it 2-3 cm away from the cervix & if it towards the front it will move up & out of the way as your belly grows. It shouldn't stick to the old scar & so long as you tell your doctor or midwife your intentions for a VBAC they should do everything to make it possible.
On the upside you get another chance to look at your baby!

For my first I had a low lying placenta at 20 weeks, and again at 32 weeks, by 36 weeks it had finalyl moved, I wouldn't stress about it so much, I've heard with the scar there is a bit more risk of it not moving, but for the most part, it should move.

ok sweetie..this sucks but should have a good outcome...my 2nd baby i had placenta preva which is not quite what you have...in my situation the placenta was covering my cervix i would have bleeding episodes and i would think i was miscarring but never....the good thing for you is its just low, as you go through your pregnancy the placenta moves toward the fungus which is the back(top) of the placenta...never forward...the placenta goes up and the baby goes down due to getting bigger and getting ready for delivery...don't worry its rare that you would need a c-section.. only time u need a section is if its covering the cervix like in my situation...and still i naturally delivered my daughter because it finally moved a week before i went into labor...just dont do any heavy lifting you will prob be put on semi-bedrest...hope this helps

Hi, I also had a low lying placenta, and it didnt move by the time by 32 week scan. I was just told that it wouldnt be an issue, and I had a textbook birth. Everything went smoothly, although the doctor did advise not to do any kind of "fun" stuff until we had the all clear of the placenta moving. We just decided that we would wait until we had the baby to get back into that. Good luck, Im sure everything will be fine.
