I'm plainning on making my own baby food. Any suggestions on if I should go with a food processor or one of the babyfood kits? Also, which food processor do you all recommend?

I made my own baby food. I used a large Cuisinart food processor and ice cube trays to freeze them. It was super easy and made me feel good knowing exactly what was in my baby's food. I think I would have preferred a stick blender because the food processor sometimes left chunks (especially carrots) . There's a GREAT cook book called First Meals by Annabel Karmel. It starts with simple purees and goes up to meals for the whole family and has a TON of tips along the way.

I was just about to say... Earlier tonight I was feeding my 5.5 month old cereal and said to my husband "We should get a magic bullet". It hadn't crossed my mind before, but I thought it would be an easy small blender to make our own baby food. I'm glad I just saw someone else mention it!
And the ice tray thing sounds like a great idea! Thanks guys!

First of all way to go on making your own food! What a difference between natural food and the jarred stuff! I actually use the Magic Bullet for processing my daughters food. It gets to a finer puree than the processor did for me(especially with peas!). I also do the ice cube tray thing for freezing her food (easy as 1 cube = 1oz of food).

I use a blender stick I find it easier to use and much more convenient to take with me when we go away on holidays. I also store the pureed foods in ice cube trays in the freezer so as your child's appettite increases the more cubes you use. Once the cubes are frozen (my son is now 8 months) I take the cubes and put into little zip lock bags into meal size portions (4 cubes) and put back in freezer. That way the trays are empty so I can make more purees and I have meals all ready and to hand in the freezer for when I need them. I hope this helps
