My aunt who is a nurse, has informed me that boys potty train later than girls due to the fact that their nerves ARE NOT FULLY DEVELOPED UNTIL 3 YRS OLD,

I have just seen a lot of responses about moms who thought their little boy would never get it and such, and it seems that it all fits too because almost all of them say around 3 years old!!!!!

Its not that they are not wanting to go in the potty but they cant tell yet that they even need to!!! So dont be suprised about accidents until they are over three at least.

i started introducing my son 2 the potty at 1 and hubby and i didnt expect him 2 get it right way. but by the time my son was 2 he was fully potty trained. the only reason we started introducing him 2 the potty at 1 is becasue he was showing interest. I knew he was really ready 2 train when at 15 months i moved his potty 2 clean the bathroom and he walked up 2 it pulled his pants and pull up down and sat on the potty.

Rebekah - I think what Robin is trying to say is that potentially, a little boy may have accidents right up til the age of three because he may or may not be able to tell if he needs to go to the toilet -- It's great that your son at the age of 2 is able to do that. :oD Some, however, simply can't.
Thanks for that info Robin - I think it's important to realise, since some of us might get quite a shock from an unexpected surprise like that!! :o))

Interesting... I switched my son to underwear on his two year old birthday and within a couple weeks he was completely potty trained-- able to feel the urge, stop what he was doing, remove his pants, and sit on the toilet all by himself.

I have an 18 mo. old son and have been also reading a lot of questions from parents of 18 or 20 mo. old boys asking how can they get them to potty train. I can't help but think it is ridiculous to expect an 18 mo. old to be using the potty. my son is semi-interested in the potty, but obviously nowhere near ready to be toilet trained. i'm glad to see i'm not out of my mind for deciding to just wait. he'll tell me when he's ready.
