ok so i went to my doc today and he did a membrane sweep/strip. has anyone had one of these done and if so did it do anything and how long after did it do anything. i have had some mild cramp like stuff and i know that i lost my mucus plug about 7hrs later. this is my second child. i am 38 weeks and was 2cm dilated when he did it. thanx for any input.

I had it done twice with my youngest and i still didnt go into labour until a week after the second time, but i felt nothing after each time anyways

I had it done around 40wks. Had a little blood but that's about it. A few cramps that day and night. I had to get induced at 10days over my due date. So it didn't work for me but could work for you. Good luck xo

I had this done with my 2 eldest. The first time i had it, contractions started 5 minutes later. With my 2nd the 1st time nothing happened so went back a week later amd my water broke 10hours later.hope all goes well :)

i had 2 done, one when i was about a week overdue, i too lost the mucas plug but had no cramp or anything, then i had another one when i went into hospital with on off contractions, they still had to induce me after the 2nd sweep. he was way to comfy in there! sounds like it should be soon for you though!! yay, good luck and congratulations in advance!!! xx

I had this done as well. It was a week before my due date and I had some mild bleeding and such that day and I believe the following day as well. But it did nothing as far as help move the labor along. I ended up having to be induced the day before my due date because of some other complications ... but the membrane sweep did nothing.

With my first one, my water broke a few hours after the sweep. It was 3 days before my due date. With the second one, it was 2 weeks before I was due and it did nothing. I think it really depends on each pregnancy. That's probably not much help, but it's my experience.
