Listen to cool music that will soothe u up. I always listen to classic music when i feel low and some love songs too.

Thank you all so much for your comments and advice - i am meeting with my psychiatrict nurse this morning to find out what decision has been made for me - will keep you all posted. Lindsey i have had my thyroid checked and it was all clear but thanks for the advice. Guess im just one of the unlucky ones that it hits and theres no reason behind it.

Maybe you could meet with a counselor? They can teach you different techniques to help with the anxiety & depression such as relaxation, visualization, etc. I have a really great counselor that I am seeing for OCD (which is classified as an anxiety disorder) & she has really helped me a lot.

I know medications aren't for everyone, but I just wanted to add that I am on Zoloft & have been for years. I stayed on a low dose for a LONG time, but after having my baby 10 months ago, my OCD, anxiety, and mood got a lot worse. They had to increase my dosage & now I am feeling better than I have in a long time. Good luck with everything! And remember that you aren't alone!

I do not know if you have had this done yet, but please ask for your thyroid levels to be checked. Sometimes women suffer thyroid problems after having problems that can go on for years if left untreated, and suffer depression, anxiety, weight loss/gain, irritable mood swings,and many other symptoms. If your levels are off, they can correct it with thyroid medication. I would definitly have this checked before going on antidepressants. Hope this helps you!

I take medication, but my therapist was able to show me various relaxation techniques also. Ask you health advisors if they can help you with something like that.

I have had anxiety, stress and depression since my daughter was born..and like you was scared to take any medications but 3 years later I just felt I had to do something. I was just recently put on Cymbalta and Ativan, I take the Cymbalta once a day and the Ativan as needed...It really works for me! I have more energy and spend more time with my family and not shut up in a room. But each person is different and maybe if you don't think meds are for you..maybe therapy?

Mindfulness Mindfulness Mindfulness!!!! look it up theres hundreds of books on it and info all over the web! I suffered with horrible anxiety it was debilitating on my life i felt so stuck and scared i dont believe in meds its horrible all the side effects they have and you never know for sure if theyre doing their job. Please just research it I never thought i could feel better but as soon as i learned about mindfulness and aplied it to my life it was instant relief. Good luck to you and be STRONG

Sometimes I fall into depression but I am too worried to take medicine because I also have seizures and so many of the medications will affect what I am on. Good luck and God Bless! Always here if you need to talk.

I have really bad anxiety and panic attacks. I too am scared to start antidepressants but I'm also scared to talk to the doctor about it. My husband has been great with helping me and understanding. But I know I have to call the docs. to get some help because it is driving me crazy. I wish you the best!

Thanks for your reply - i am being monitored by a crisis team from our local mental health hospital and i am currently taking diazepam to help with the anxiety - they are keen for me not to take antidepressants as i seem to be managing by taking the above medication and taking through how i am feeling. Again thanks its nice to know that if i feel low i have someone else to talk to x
