My oldest son has asthma which makes him cough. Sometimes his doctors hear a wheeze and sometimes they don't. His asthma went undiagnosed for the first few years of his life until we finally switched doctors. We eventually found out that he also had a pretty severe case of acid reflux, which aggrivates the asthma and causes more coughing. He used to vomit when couging all the time. They vomit the mucus that is draining. My oldest had one bad sinus infection during which he coughed and vomited about 3 times a day, every day for weeks. So the vomitting is typical with a bad cough. The best thing for a cough though is a COOL MIST HUMIDIFIER in the bedroom!!! They work wonders. The best one's that I've found (and we've had many) are the ones shaped like animals that they sell at Target. Some others require filters which are messy and mold easily. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion and ask about a nebulizer too. Good luck!!

my daughter and now my youngest son have this. (my daughter is 5yrs and youngest son is 9 months) It took 5 years to get something that worked for my daughter. She has asthma but without the weezeing. So during spring time i have to put her on a nebulizer with pulmicort. and same with my son. But i tried a cool mist humidifier to help out and man oh man that worked wonders. The very first night my son had it in his room he stopped coughing. So maybe try that to help soothe the coughing without having to load up on meds first. I still have to give her pulmicort to help the cough from getting bad but the cool mist humidifer has help my son to where i dont need to put him on pulmicort as often.

give her soft fruit and ice lollies .... things to suck!!!! this will soothe her throat as sometimes they get into the "habbit" as it gets lots of attention, they dont know they are doing it but need distraction tactics to break the cycle. with lots of good attention for little things through the day. "they seem to know which button to push to worry mum the most" it may take a week but i have been a nanny & nurserynurse and child minder and am now on to granchildren. and it usually works, hard to ignore but worth a try ♥

It could be asthma or allergies, both of which the doctors can test for if you ask. In the mean time, I'd take her into the ER the next time she has a really bad coughing fit, especially if she's vomiting also. Chances are it's nothing too serious, but they'll check more thoroughly if you take her in while the symptoms are the worst.

Good luck and God bless!
