Please don't worry about your 18 month old whining all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my eldest is 9 now and happy but at 18 months old he did nothing but whine he even did it in his sleep sometimes. I took him to see doctors midwives and health visitors I even saw a councilor because i began to think it was my fault but it turns out he was just one of those kids and grew out of it. I know its hard but as long as they are clean, fed, watered and not got colic (try gripe water) then sometimes the best thing for your own sanity is to leave them to it perhaps in a playpen or cot and go have a cuppa with tv/music on you know take 10 and start again. I hope this is of some help GOODLUCK X

my little girl is 19months and constantly whines all the time, she can speak well starting to anyway but I always kneel down and tell her to stop  making that silly noise as I can't tell what shes saying. she stops and points to what she wants afterwards. She still does it the next day though. good luck xxx

I think it's pretty normal for your 18 month old to be whining all the time, they get to a point and they test the limits. They want to see how far they can go and what will get your attention. With my son, I try and make sure that when he is whining that I've covered all the bases: Is he hungry?...does he need a snack? Is he tired?...does he need a nap?...Dirty diaper?...needs attention? And if these needs have been met and he's still acting up, kneel down in front of him and in a stern voice tell him to stop and that he's just fine. I'm going through it right now with my 2 year old and he gets out of control and screams bloody murder and we also use "time out". With time and patience on my part it's working, just keep to it and be consistent. I've learned that is all it is...Consistency! Good luck!

I know how you feel. My son is 2 and will be 3 in August. He doesn't talk much so he whines all the time and it gets on your nerves. I would try to see why your son is whining. Maybe he is tired, hungry or teething or wants attention. I don't know if it's normal but I don't see why it wouldn't be. My daughter is 3 and she never did that. I don't think there is a way to stop it. I would just try to figure out why he is whining and go from there. Hope this helps.

Yes, I can relate! Our 16 month old...she went through a whiny stage to get things...So she would whine and I would point and tell her what it was she was whiny for. Or we would tell her no and say "say cup" or "say drink"...sometimes kids are just whiny, Our 4 year old still gets whiny...
