My son has been potty trained since he was 2 and a half. I completely took away his pull-ups durring the day and put him in big boy undies. He was using the potty within a week. I was soooo proud of him to have done so well. But now he is 4 and we are still having to put him in a pull-up at night because he will NOT wake up to use the bathroom. He will wet the bed while he is asleep and when he wakes up to let us know we change him and if we dont put a pull-up on him, he will surely wet the bed again by morning. I dont know what to do to get him to wake up and use the bathroom. I need help!!!

I have heard that it is common for some kids, especially boys to have bed wetting problems. My daughter is fully potty trained, and even gets through some nights without an accident, but she still has quite a few accidents. My brother was a bed wetter till he was 12, my friends daughter was a bed wetter till she was about 10, and I have talked to others with the same issues. He is not doing it on purpose, I know this because my daughter tells me in the morning that she is sorry and she is still a big girl that wears big girl under ware! I think they just can't control it...Don't know if that helps, I know it's not very encouraging, but it may just be something he will have to outgrow.

its takes time. be patient like you are and he will get the hang of it.
I had my youngest go to the bathroom before bed adn cut out all liquids before 6pm. that helped out a lot and we had to go to panties instead of pull ups. She became so use to the pull up being there like a diaper. the panties helps her better understand the feeling of peeing and having to go poop then the pullups did. She began waking up and running to the bathroom during the night and woke me up to tell me. good luck

Have you tried putting a little potty in his room on a mat, he may be afraid to leave his room at night if the house is dark. Also its not uncommon for them to sleep thought the night without waking with the urge to pee, how ever being wet in bed is very uncomfortable and maybe why he is waking up on his own after he goes. Hope you work it out soon, good luck

You can try limiting his fluid intake after dinner time to help limit the night time accidents. How often is he having the night time accidents? It may or may not make you feel any better, but my sister has 3 children (twin 12yr old boys and a 7 yr old) and one of the twins and the 7 year old still have night time wetting issues. They were both put on medications and they no longer have regular issues with it.

Jennifer, wetting the bed most of the time has nothing to do with potty training. He will grow out of it, try getting him to pee before he goes to bed. Thats what my mom did with me.
