My 5 month old is very attached to Mom and Dad already. We have a hard time doing things alone because she screams the whole time we are gone. She goes into panic mode. Does anyone have any suggestions on making her more comfortable around other people???

Don't make a big deal about leaving. Just give a hug and a kiss and say "See you later!" and leave. And like Cassie said, never sneak out! Making short trips and coming back makes it easier for them to realize that if you leave it's not forever. It's hard to do, but if you coddle too much and emphasize that you're leaving it makes the whole situation more traumatic. It'll get better, trust me!

i have 3 kiddos... and what i have learned over the years, with our first one actually, was to have certain people as sitters at first. like say 2 different people that the baby knows. if it's someone she isn't familiar with, get her familiar with them before leaving her with them. like, have them over for a playdate. a lunch. just time where that person is there with her, but so are you. i had a much easier time leaving my son with people that were *close* friends with him. there were still times he would panic. but within 5 minutes after we'd leave, he'd calm down and be fine - if it was someone he felt safe with. maybe have them babysit at your home so she's in a familiar place still. whatever you do, don't do the sneaking out thing. that's what can cause the panic - when you trick them. it breaks their trust and causes fear. i hope i've helped! :o)
