He started crawling at 9 months and he is starting to get brave and holding on with one hand but will not walk on his own yet

I didn't walk til I was 13 months.
Children do things at different times, he'll walk when hes ready , sounds like hes getting close to walking anyway .
I wouldn't worry about it , what a waste of time that you don't get back

my daughter's doctor told me that babys walk as late as 18 Months so i would give it till then if he is still not walk i would take him in just to make sure everything is ok. But I would worry about it till then unless you see some thing wrong with him when he stands. Does he walk with you holding his hands if so don't worry....best of luck

i just read an article on this, Doctors say normal walking age is between 9-16 months. Girls tend to develope faster then boys and if ur baby is of a calm and/or cautious they will take longer to walk but be better at it when they start =)

its ok if he isnt walking yet. My daughter wasnt walking at 12 months but she is now almost 14 months and she walks great and fast too. her first steps were at 11 months then she would only take two steps at a time. we let her walk on her own time and when she was ready, she was READY!

All babies are different!!! Mine started walking at 11 months and hasn't stopped since!!!! Average age according to our pediatrician and sources in books, is 12-15 months!!! Just be patient, it will happen!!! To encourage it though get a little walking toy, my daughter loved those!!!!

All children reach their Milestones on their own time. Be encouraging to him POsitive reinforcement can move mountains. Unless their are other problems then not walking..nothing to worry about. One day soon he'll just do it...and you will have your relief and proud Mommy moment!

Hey Brittney, You should just get the walkers and get him started but don't push him to force just continue to encourage. You don't need to worry about it, my little sister didn't start walking until she was almost 14 months and she just didn't like the attention. Everytime soemone watched her she would stop trying to get up and just lay flat on her stomach...lol.

my daughter didn't start walking until 14 months. she hit every other mile stone very early but i just dont think she was ready. what helped me a lot what to stand her up wih her back against the wall and than stand about 4 feet infront of her, she would push herself off the wall and walk to me, i just kept standing further and further away. good luck!

Some babies don't walk until about 15 months, so I wouldn't be too worried. My son started walking around 10 months with assistance and by 12 months he could walk a little bit w/o assistance. Just give your baby time. He'll walk when he's ready :)

My MIL told me my husband didn't take his first step until he was 13 months old! Your little guy is probably just taking his time!

My son didn't walk until he was 16 months old. I'm pretty sure I've heard that you shouldn't be alarmed until they are not walking at 18 months. Just make sure you give him plenty of room to practice, don't put him in saucers or play pens. Try holding his hand/hands and walk with him. It will happen and you'll be wishing he was just crawling again :)

he could probably not be ready, or what me and my boyfriend did was my son is a big mama's boy so we put me on one couch, and him and the baby was on the other couch and taught him to get to mama you had to walk. of course the couches weren't even a foot apart but it worked and he hasn't stopped.

Believe me you can try everything to encourage him to walk and he still won't do it when you want him to. He'll do it on his own time. I thought my daughter would be an early walker since she was pulling up and walking with support at 9 months. She started standing in her own a few weeks after her 1st birthday and then walked (not wobble like most new walkers do) a few days before she turned 14 months. It only becomes a concern if they're still not walking at 18 months. At that point you look into physical therapy.

Don't worry about it. The later they learn, the less grey hair you'll have, I promise. My son's doctor said he's seen healthy and perfect babies not learn to walk until almost their second birthday.

As long as your encouraging walking, and independence, I wouldn't worry. They know when the world is ready to handle their little feet!

My son started walking at 15 1/2 months, up to 16 months is considered with in the 'normal' range, but kids do things at their own pace! If he's cruising, he's on his way.

It will go fast, just practice with him, and help him gain confidence! He will do it when he is ready!!!

My 16 month old did not start walking until he was almost 14 months old. He just wasn't ready, I guess. he runs as well as any other of the kids his age now, though.
Don't worry. If he's trying then he's doing awesome!

Well my daughter started walking at 11 months. However I have always been told every baby is different. They will do things when they are ready. You could always hold his hands and help him walk, just to get him used to the process, and eventually he should just start taking steps on his own. My daughter started taking 3 steps one day, 5 the next, and so on and so forth. It took her a good 3 weeks probably, after those first steps to get steady on her feet. Dont be concerned, he will walk when he is ready.
