My baby is really sick

my son is also sick. hes 9 months and we went to the dr and he gave him cough medicine and told me to buy mucinex liquid for kids and dose per weight. it is working great. i also rub vicks on his chest and use a plug in vapor thing. i was always told to use tylenol on babies not motrin but good luck.

Try the Vicks Baby rub and a humidifier along with the tylenol and warm baths. We get colds quite often here and it really seems to work to get him back on his feet and moving again.

i've tried raising the mattress under the crib by putting a couple books under or placing a firm pillow in the crib it lets everything flow out and minimizes couphing. I used (non medicated) saline nose drops to clear my son's nose he really didn't like it but it worked wonders. My dr put him on amoxicilin for ten days and it cleared right up (he was only 6 months). If it doesn't go away anytime soon i suggest going to get a second opinion.

vicks vapor rub on the back and on the chest works a treat the normal stuff not the one recomended for children i find that one is to weak when it is a full on cold

Don't worry about the coughing. Its good if they bring up the stuff. Its better out than in. But I would suggest trying to get saline either spray or drops for the babys nose. Use half an hour before bottle and it makes it easier for them to feed. Worked for my son. I also use ibuprofen and or paracetamol. I'm an advocate of if a child is in pain they need something to ease it. Its not as easy for them to last it out as you or i might. Also fevers can be dangerous if not properly controlled. At the same time i don't agree with giving it to them for the sake of it either, only if they need it.

My first child was ill at 7 weeks and had surgery and my second has just been circumcised (medical reason) so they have both needed pain relief at relatively early ages.

Thanks. We got some vapor bath stuff and baby vapor rub last night. He screamed for a good 3 minutes when we first put him in the bath. I will try the shower once daddy gets home from work this evening. He hasn't had the sweats, thank God. He coughs and so much stuff comes up he chokes and I start to freak out. We need to get some more liquid vapor for the humidifier. That seemed to work great last time he was sick. Thanks again!

Cold Mist humidifier and warm showers with Mommy. My little guy, also 11 months, had a terrible fever Saturday night. He screamed for over an hour straight after giving him Motrin(we don't dose often and never with Tylenol) the only thing that helped was a warm shower. We were in there for well over 30minutes and as soon as we took him out he fell asleep. Also, lots of fluids and make sure he's kept warm but not to warm. My son got the cold sweats and I didn't know what to do.

have you tried vapour rubs, and you can buy a plug for the wall that you put vapour in so it goes round the room all night, we found that amazing as my son gets horrible colds, it worked wonders for us, other than that just infant paracetamol and ibuprofen, both work to bring down the fever, and lots of cuddles hope it helps and really hope he feels better soon :)
