when held in the standing position he always want to tip toe and resists when i try to place his feet flat. holding him in my lap you can maneuver his feet to be flat but not when they touch the ground. should i be concerned?

thanks for all the replies....yes i know its normal for babies to tip toe at first, but my main concern is the resistance to flattening his foot in your hand. he pushes very hard against someone trying to flatten his feet.

Howdy I'm a single dad of two awesome kids I have. I love them to death. I might be in the wrong place but I'm their mom as well lol. My son is 7 and he still walks on his tippy toes. When I stand him next to me and I put his feet flat on the ground he loses his balance. He is quick on his tippy toes lol he so cute. I've talked to his doctor all they can say is to send him to see more doctors I don't have the money to see all these doctors. I feel so helpless for my boy. Has any one expierence this before? I'm not sure what to do next. :-(

they have this little thing that you strap under your child's arms and it has straps that you can hold on to while they try to walk.

its normal my son does this all the time hes now 1yr old and he stands flat but sometimes he'll do the tippy toes hes not fully walking yet but almost every babys different but some are the same

probably nothing but check with pediatrician just to be sure my friends daughter did that even after she started walking not sure what caused it but she had to use some kind of braces for a short period of time. all babies stand on their tip toes at some point but if your worried cant hurt to mention it to the doctor

A lot of kids as they first start walking will walk or stand on their tippy toes. I guess they feel like they have more control of their balance that way (though I don't see how) I would guess he'll outgrow it pretty soon. My son is 19 mos. old and i rarely see him on his tippy toes anymore.

I wouldn't worry about something like that. Have you ever seen anyone not stand flat on their feet? lol

I've heard this is normal, that's why most books/resources say stick with the crib-type shoes for a while after walking, and still that bare feet are best. :o) I wouldn't worry too much my little one gets going and she's all toes, too!
