Any suggestions on how to get my 11 month old daughter to take a sippy? We've tried different kinds, milk, juice, water and even going back to a bottle. She refuses it all and just chews on them. She will only breastfeed.

ok i was having the same problem. some kids take right to it others need more time my son was 18 months before he switched and no teeth or health problems because of it so dont freak out. my daughter is 15 months old now and she started taking one at 13 months. I tried every kind on the market and finally the only one she would take is the Nuk learning cup it looks funny but the handles are removeable and its great i have like 10 friends who all had the same problem and it was fixed by that cup i'd try it if he/she still dont take to a cup just wait for them to show you intrest just keep trying dont rush it good luck

I started my son on a sippy at around 6 months and it took him a while to figure it out. He just chewed on it for months and then realised that if he sucked on it he would get something out of it. Just keep trying, sometimes it takes time. Also I used the NUK brand sippy cups, they have a soft spout and that really helped him figure it out, now he can drink out of anything.

My son didnt understand the concept of a sippy cup and how you have to tip it back. we went to the movies and when I wasnt looking he got ahold of my cup and starting drinking out of my straw. when we saw that we went out and bought him the kind with a straw and now he loves it. maybe try that.

Have you tried a regular cup? Or a straw? She is probably more likely to drink in the way you do since she only nursed. She might want to mimic the way you drink, so offer her some of your cup, she may take it. At a year, she doesn't need to nurse, so you could just refuse to nurse her and eventually she will drink out of something. She will be thirsty eventually, but maybe you should talk to your dr about that one first.

My mom has a 11month old as well and he does't really care for his juice cup either and he is breastfed as well. She has to hold it for him to drink any at all. Just keep at it and slowly wean her off the breast. My daughter is having problems going from the bottle to sippy cup and she is 17months old.I have learned when she is thirsty enough she knows how to drink out of the cup.I know that sounds terrible, but kids are stubborn.

I had a daughter like that too.I was told just to not give her an option, cup or nothing .They will not let themselves go without for very long. The first day was rough but after that, she did it.Just dont give in....she will expect you to,and she will wait for it.

I am having the same problem with my 10 month old .she is bottle fed . my oldest had some trouble getting the hang of it to but i found by them chewing on it they did catch on soon enough if the nipple of the sippy cup would let out the water or juice when they chewed my babies didnt like getting wet on their face so they fighure it out fast lol im hoping my youngest catches on fast too
