My little pumpkin is just shy of a month old, and I've been feeding her as the doctor said 2 to 3 oz every few hours. The problem is as soon as I'm done feeding her she wants more. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, I'm a college student and I'm not getting any sleep because she constantly wants to bed fed. Someone told my boyfriend to put nearly a teaspoon of rice cereal in her bottle and that should keep her and have her sleep through the night. Please give me some advice because I'm about to lose it due to lack of sleep.

i buy food thickner that i get fromt he chemist and its safe to put it babies bottles its designed to thicken up brest milk or formula. also feed ur baby as much as she wants she will stop feeding when she is full and if she drank a little ro much she will spit up what she doesnt want. dont listen to how much you should feed a baby cos every baby is different my baby drank twice the amount she was "ment" to when she was born but now at 6 months is drinking 60 mls less in each bottle but having an extra bottle a day every baby is different. its just all about learning what is right for you baby

Babies will eat as much as they need until they are full. I do not feel that 2-3oz every few hours is enough. Make up a 6oz botte and see how she goes, DO NOT PUT RICE IN THE BOTTLE!!!! Not only is there a risk of choking but she is only a month old so does not need it. If you feel it to be neccessary you could try hungry baby milk but see how she gets on with more milk more often first, my baby went through phases sometimes hardly ate then would go through 8oz bottles every 2 hours for a couple weeks!! Best of luck xx

Please do not put anything in your babies formula/breastmilk.

2-3 ounces does not sound like enough. I would make a 5 ounce bottle and see if she wants it all. Trust me, babies will stop eating when they're full.

DO NOT GIVE HER RICE CEREAL !!! At 1 month her digestive system is not fully formed and it can do so much more harm then good, then you will have a very cranky fussy gassy baby. Also when you do start giving her rice cereal pref after 4 months ( 6 is best) give it to her by spoon, in a bottle is a choking hazard.

Anyways to answer your question feed your daughter as much as she wants, you cannot overfeed a baby. My son at 4 ounces from the day he came home from the hospital and he ate every 2 hours, so give her more til she is finished and she will let you know when she is done, by refusing the bottle.

Also growth spurts , when she is having one she will eat eat eat eat eat all the time they last a few days, just bare with them she her body is growing and alot of things are happening quickly.

Every baby is different and will eat different amounts, so for you doc to say only feed her 2-3 ounces is incorrect, feed her to her needs not to just what the avg baby eats. My son at 4 months was eating 12 ounces every 2-3 hours, at that point we had no choice but to start solids, but by then their digestive system is alot stronger to be able to handle them, now is wayyyy too early!!!!!!!

If she's hungry, let her eat. She may be in a growth spurt. She's telling you she's hungry. Next time, fill a bottle to 5 oz and let her eat what she wants. She'll fall asleep when she's done, but PLEASE burp her or you'll have a super gassy baby!

Also, could she just be gassy? My babies were so, so gassy in the beginning months and they practically lived on gripe water and infant mylicon. Also, because mine were gassy, all they felt was the pain in thier tummies and thought they were hungry when they ate a WHOLE lot.

ur baby is probably still hungry, your baby cant talk crying is her only way of communicating with you. The rice cereal isnt recommended to start until 4- 6 months old depending on baby and their development as the beginning of introducing solids by spoon not bottle . try giving her more as she wants and im sure she will be more settled. if not maybe there is another reason such as pain, perhaps she has colic (pains in belly after food). babies will usually let you know when they hav had enough milk they stop suking and may turn away. but if ur little bubs is telling you mummy im still hungry, it is important to increase her feed as she gets older because her body is very busy growing and she needs lots of nutrients to keep her going. give her some more hun and also whe she is full burped and content maybe try offering her a dummy, some babies comfort suck for a sense of security but obviously make sure she is full first because giving her a dummy to suck if she is hungry is like teasing her. a happy baby with a full belly that has been burped tends to sleep longer as they r content. Keep in mind if she is having a growth spurt she will want more good luck

Rice cereal in the bottle is a huge choking hazard and it's also a myth that it will help them sleep longer. Formula and breastmilk is actually more calorically dense than rice cereal so she will get more full from formula or breastmilk than she would the rice.

What makes you think she's hungry? Keep in mind that babies have a huge sucking reflex and she may just want to suck. Also when you give a baby that young a bottle they will generally suck the whole hting down whether they are hungry or not, it's that sucking reflex again. Sometimes they can be showing what appear to be hunger cues but hunger cues often mimic tummy ache cues so you may try seeing if her little tummy is hurting her.

If you do increase the the amount you are giving her I would increae it to no more than 4 oz at a time.

2 - 3 ounces is rubbish dont listen to docs start making up 6 ounces wind her after 3 and then let her have what she's capable of taking. if she's full she'll be content i was spoon feeding my daughter from 11 weeks and she's 3 next month and very ealthy happy child every child is different so do whats rght for you and your daughter and dont listen to docs nurses midwives etc cause they not living your life they going by a book! try more milk first and if thats not working then certaintly use rice. logically if she's hungry feed her its not fair to go by what doc says and then leaving her hungry cause she doesnt understand all she knows is she wants fed.
