I have a 7 year old 5 year old 3 year old and a 2 year old you are always supposed to mix something with the water

I never gave my babies anything. But after 3 days i gave my kids a little water and they went. Babies that age usually don't have a problem with constipation. If you're breast feeding try eating fruit.

and how many kids do you have? well i have 4 and telling you know baby's can have a little prune juice and water as long as its not over an oz or 2 and people saying syrup that's a big No No cause it could give the baby a bug in the tummy then they will have the runs and different problems.

One month old babies shouldn't have any thing but formula, breast milk. If babies don't have a bowel movement after 3 days try an ounce of bottled water. Babies get constipated sometimes. But they usually go after 3 days.

my son was the same way they told me to mix 1 oz of prune and 1 oz of water every 4-6 hr until his poop was more soft

diluted prune juice, works every time. i have been using it since 1 month also, because the switch to formula full time clogged her up a bit.
when your baby farts and it stinks, and you know he hasnt gone poop that day, then give him half an oz prune with half oz water. when hes 2 months old and it happens, you can do 1oz prune 1oz water.

Ya i just used one tbsp. of corn syrup with a little warm water and voila, I almost wished i hadnt done that.....the end result may be scary and messy, but it helps for a happy baby. Glycerin suppositories also do work wonders. Good luck!

Idk much about apple juice in the formula, but you can usually buy the pear juice for baby and it will help, or even give him a little bit of pear baby food! My son did that when he about 2 1/2 mths and thats what I did to help him go to the restroom! Also give him some milocon gas drops, he might have gas and is having trouble passing it and in turn making him constipated! The gas drops will help him pass it and maybe even help him use it a little better!

A wives tale is molasses in the bottle, but that didn't work with my son. It's worth a try. My doctor told me that just a little bit of water might help. A sight of dehydration will be consipation. PRUNE JUICE!!! It was my savior.

I agree with Jessica...prune juice is natural. Also, just a hint...each child is different. I found that if I gave mine straight prune juice, it caused problems. I found that by mixing it 1/2 and 1/2 with water that it worked better without bad side effects. They were like that with most juices, especially OJ, which would break them out badly in just 1 pee. If you find the prune juice to be a little much, try watering it down a little. Always use it sparingly, because it really doesn't take much. Like I said, it is natural and the more natural approach you take with your baby, the better it is on his system. Good luck and hope you find what helps...
PS I would think about a new doctor...babies should not be straining so much and it is not good on their little bodies. It can set them up for digestive problems later in their life. Their little systems should run smoothly.

I found that the poop problems came about wen I changed him from brest milk to new born formular then from that to the next stage up and so on.. Everytime I introduced a new food 2 him he ended up with poop issues... He is 4yo now and still on the odd occation has a poop issue... Hope u find a solution that works 4 you:)

just plain boiled then cooled water did the trick for my little girl, just try a few times a day, he may not like the taste but even if its only a little liquid each time will help loosen things up :)

My girls would go days with out pooping and it is hard to see them crying from discomfert. I would take a rectal temp and if that didn't work then I would use a glycerin suppositorie. (You can get them at any pharmacy over the counter). Just make sure to have diaper and wipes ready, and check with your doctor with any questions. Most of the lables say 2+ but when I checked with my doc and the pharmacy they said that they were safe to use once a day.

I had the same problem with my baby. Just put a teaspoon of Karo syrup in his bottles for a few days. It's very gentle and it works. The constipation should decrease over time but if not you might want to consider changing his formula. If his body can't digest the one he's on properly then he may need soy milk. Hope this helps.

Also not to pry but both apple and orange juice are bad to give to such a young infant, the acid in the orange will upset the tummy more and even sour the milk and the apple juice tends to constipate more. I would not recommend adding or subtracting extra ingredients into a bottle at one month old. I would however agree with perhaps switching to a less iron fortified formula, but babies get constipated, it happens.

Yikes prune juice cramps there little tummies so bad I would not suggest it...I used to rub Morgans tummy, and then put on some gloves and help the poop not exactly my finest moment but I did just a few drops of prune juice and she cried hysterically at the pain and cramps it caused.

There is a thing called Kayro Syrup... you can get basically anywhere... when u get this syrup .. fill the bottle with water and the syrup and let him drink it . 10-15 minutes later... bam... he will not be constipated anymore.

I put a couple of teaspoons of karo syrup in a couple of his bottles a day and that seemed to reaaaally help. I wouldn't do it in every bottle, just a couple until the baby is regular again and then a couple ever couple of days should do it.

I also changed to Enfimil Gentle Ease formula, the broken down protein really seemed to help also. Hope things turn out better for you guys!

I've read that apples will actually cause constipation in babies. Maybe Apple juice isn't the right solution. I take it you are formula feeding only? Breast milk helps so much with constipation, so do prunes but they can also dehydrate your little one too, so be very careful how much you feed them. I would do some research or ask your doctor if there is anything you can do to help him with his bowel movements.

rasins are suppose to help, but i would kid around too much with this one my son get so uncomfortable pooping when he was an infant that he fought it and i ended up having to give him daily enemas for a month to keep him cleaned out because he had stretched out his bowels... if you think its a problem dont let him doctor blow you off. mommy really does know best. :D

Use some prune juice, I think it should help. Also this sort of thing happened to my son and he ended up having an allergy to the formula. So if it continues you may want to ask the doctor about that.

muy daughter who is now 7 years old has had that problem also she still does from time to time so bad the er had to dig her out once. try laying him face down on your legs slightly spread so his belly kinda lays between them and not on them then bounce and do it do it like u would if you were irritated if it does not help u can always buy baby laxatives or mineral oil works well. its nasty but it works also u can try glycolax u need a script but if ur regular doctor wont give it to u take him to the er and ask them if u can try it

hi this happened to my baby. i changed over her formula milk to another brand and every thing was ok after that. plus lots of water and prunes. pureed fruit alos in water, in a bottle. but i think you will find the milk you are using has too much iron in it which apparently causes constipation x good luck x
