Honestly, I only ever gave baby food to my oldest. I found it to be a pain in the butt and not nutritionally significant. With my other three, I breast-fed exclusively until they could eat finger foods and then started them on finger foods. At one, she should be able to eat finger foods. Buy frozen peas and carrots and then just run hot (not boiling) water over them straight out of the freezer through a strainer. It defrosts them, but doesn't make them warm and mushy. My kids loved these refrigerator temp or around room temp and would gobble them. Frozen are so much better than canned. Cut up bite-sized cheese and lunch meat. Have you deli cut it really thick, so you can make it easier to cut in pieces they can pick up. Oyster crackers are good and easy to pick up with little fingers. Most fruits can be cut in small, bite-sized pieces, as well as vegetables. The only thing I hand-fed was Yogurt. Also, I gave them their cereal dry. I had multiples and I could only do so much feeding and cleaning. It's easier if they can help themselves and not be too messy. You can also give them some beans/legumes, just be careful not too make it too fibrous, or you'll have another mess to clean later. LOL

My baby is almost 8 months with six teeth and i feed him just about EVERYTHING. I let him try anything as long as its not sugar or honey. Babies have excellent natural gag and choke reflexes that prevent him from seriously choking, My baby never did like mashed food, it must be the texture because he will eat them whole or in chunks.

I am a grandmother of twin girls (11mts) they will be 1 on Thanksgiving 2012. My daughter is a 1st time mom and is quite concerned of what she feeds the girls. The peditrician has said no p. butter, eggs, honey, etc.....what can u young mom tell my daughter to help her along? Twenty-nine yrs ago we feed them everything. My daughter feels like a "bad" mom and I keep telling her she is an awesome mom (and she truly is) but she has to feel out the food situation until she can find a texture they like. there is a great series of reecipe books called "4 ingredients" it is the best 20 dollars i have ever spent, there is an amazing section for babies and the recipies are so simple and quick to make. highly recommend it. wat food u do make u should make it in bulk, seperate into small freezer containers and have the whole weeks worth of food prepared, makes life 100 times easier.

my daughter is 10 months old and she has no teeth at all and is rejectin baby food also....i spoke to her daycare teacher and found out that they give her all real food.... i was giving her baby fruit and cereal during the mornigns and real food for lunch and dinner....so the real food i give her she gumms it to death but she loves it .........anthing healthy that your fmily eats and is chewable i would give to her...cause she is ready for the real world healthy wise that is good luck

If you mean baby food in the jars, he doesn't really need that anymore. It is good to start him with finger food. Pretty much any steamed vegetables (which do not need to be mashed but just in small pieces), eggs, pasta, small pieces of easy to chew meat (I do not recommend hot dogs but if you do make sure you cut them so they are not round, so many babies choke on them which is said since it it 100% preventable), pancakes, fruits (cut grapes if you give those to her), toast, crackers, cereal, many many things!
Those are just some of the things my 13 month old has been eating since a little before he turned one!
He also likes the toddler meals that we get him but it is more expensive to always buy those! Good luck! I know you will find plenty of things that she loves!

My son is doing the same and he loves butter toast and bananas,I also use a food processor with what ever i eat. he loves the little baby hot dog sausages by gerber and the little cooked carrot and yogurt.

peas, carrots, sweet potatoes mash them all. I know some might think it gross but meats you can chew them and pass them if needed. Dry cereals are great to keep on hand, especially Cheerios. Vegetables you can buy frozen or fresh and just boil them. These are just a few ideas i have seen and picked up over the years.

By the age of one your little one should be able to eat almost anything, other than the obvious such as nuts and honey. My youngest who has just turned 10 months now eats the same as us, just cut up, Things like chicken break up easily. Can't say she wont spit them out but try everything is the best advice I could give...gud luck xxx

my sons favorite meal is chessy mash and beans, i try and buy cheese with added fruits eg. apricots/cranberries coz he loves that. He doesnt like anything that is too dry so when i make mash i make sure to add plenty milk :)

my lil man was on proper food by the time he was about 8 months old, he didnt want stage 2 food he didnt like the lumps but he liked full on normal food! so he ate everything we did basically!!

hi my name is nicole and i know someone who has a picky eater..maybe try french fries..and mashed potatoes..cooked carrots (so they are soft), apples,bananas,even ground up chicken(like chicken salad) but without the other ingredients?? just a thought!! hope i was some help!

My son is 16 months and does the same thing, but still only has 4 teeth.... But by trying everything, I've found some things he will eat. Grilled cheese, corn dogs or hot dogs, spagetti, chicken alfredo, and he eats almost all of the gerber graduate little meals.... But ground beef and any kind of chicken, my son sits there and chews and chews and if he doesnt spit it out I have to pull it out, he just wont swallow it. Especially bacon.... You may find it easier to sneak a few bites of baby food after letting her get started with a piece of toast or something. She needs to start eating the same foods as you soon so figure out what you can cook that you would be comfortable feeding to her. Anything can be chopped up into baby bites.
Just make sure you know how to respond the first time she gets carried away and chokes/gags.

MY baby doesnt have any teeth at 11 months and she wont eat baby food either. I have been giving her full time table food for the last 4 weeks, and she has no problem chewing or swallowing anything. Just make sure it is bite size and use your common sense.

no salt added canned green beans, peas, & sliced carrots.... grilled cheese cut up...mini raviolis... beefaroni...scrambled eggs...cooked pasta...chicken nuggets... fish sticks... basically she should be able to eat anything as long as you cut it into bite size pieces. My 13 month old has been eating whatever we eat since about 7 or 8 months including steak :)

You can try chicken nuggets, French fries,Cheerios, yogurt, chicken strips. You also use graduates they are little dinners you can pop in microwave. My son eats beef roni, peanut butter and jelly, grilled cheese. I have a whole book if you need more just message me cause there is alot more.

Mashed potatoes....cooked carrots mashed....peas....anything that you would pretty much eat, you can mash up and have them eat it....my daughter was only on baby food for maybe a month and then she switched completely to adult food.....

my daughter is doing the same thing now ..she is nearly 18 months old has nearly all her teeth but is now refusing to eat anything i give her the only way i can get her to eat is let her share my food which means one mouth full for me one for her

yogurt, cheese sticks, multi grain cheerios, you can always make her "special milk" I take milk and add in 2 or 3 teaspoons of yogurt {without friut} we like the orange cream, key lime pie but there are others. Both of my boys also liked fresh fruit and steamed veggies, and kashi pumkin pie bars. Some kids like cottage cheese, mine didn't but all my nieces do.

For meals, try making more cassirole type dishes, if she likes pasta, then blend or process meats to hide in the sause. She is still getting protien nad you can add veggies in that way too.

With 6 teeth you are pretty much ready to go for almost any table food... just make sure you cut it up with the pieces being between the size of a raisin and a grape depending on the foods. Easily mashed foods like cooked potatoes, soft fruits and veggies are good at grape size. However, meats like hotdogs, chicken nuggets, hamburger meat need to be chopped a little more finely so make them about raisin size so baby doesnt have to chew as long and wear out their jaw. Just stay away from snacks like nuts and peanut butter.... Keep in mind that now is when you need to focus on food allergies.. Give baby the same food for a couple days in a row and check her often.. look her over every few hours for rashes, hives, and swelling... Then if baby is good to go introduce a new food and repeat the checks... Once you know that baby has no allergies then you can continue to give baby that same food while introducing new foods.

babies go through times when they have a strong prefernece for certain foods. If she reuses anything but pasta and sauce, then maybe sneak some very finely diced veggies in there with the sauce. also good foods are arrowroot cookies, banana, pretty much any fruit that is cut up to an appropriate size, corn and peas, sweet potato fries (bake them), fresh lunchmeat (the stuff u get at the deli, not the prepackaged stuff). cheerios and rice krispies are also good.

hi there..i see your little one is one years old so really finger food would be the best option instead of mashes and puree foods. my two year old little boy has always been a fussy eater but i simply had to let him know who was boss and if he didn't eat what i put in front of him i would take it away after ten minutes as he preferred to make art with food. after a few months he slowly realised that i meant business and now mostly eats whatever is in front of him. you could try a plate of sliced fruits like banana and grapes etc or toast soldiers to get started.. garlic bread is also a good one and small child sized pizza cut up. x

I think everyone had some great ideas, both of mine were eating the same foods we eat since 8-9 months. I still used the baby food once in a while just to make sure they got their veggie or fruit for that day, but for the most part they ate table food. I don't know if maybe your daughter is to the point where she wants to feed herself, and you should just try giving her a spoon and trying it herself! My son won't eat anything I try to feed him! He likes to do it himself!

My 11 1/2 month old son had a hard time eating baby food...he just didn't like it at all! So, I decided to start giving him more finger foods & he is doing really well with solids now. He has zero teeth, but is still able to gum the food lol...and I cut it into tiny pieces.

His favorites are yogurt, cheerios, grilled cheese, jelly sandwiches, cream cheese sandwiches, soup, chicken, sweet potato, broccoli w/ cheese, & pasta in a meat sauce.

I ordered a book from Amazon.com called Top 100 Finger Food Recipes. I'm anxious to get it in the mail, because I feel like I'm running out of food ideas!

My daughter is 18 months and has been eating solid table food since she was 9 months old. I just made sure to puree the meats for her up until about a year old. But, your baby can eat anything you eat..as long as you don't give her fish with high mercury counts.

Roasting veggies is easy make a weeks supply then heat it up for her meals. I mainly give mine whatever I'm eating just broken up. Her main meals right now (because we really need to go shopping) consistes of cubed cheese, turkey meat (slice lunch meat), ritz crackers, and some sweet potato I had cooked last friday.

Have you tried offering homemade meals instead of baby food? Our son never ate baby foods and ate things that I would prepare for him. I'm not sure he would even touch jarred foods. Some things that our son enjoyed when he was 1 were...peanut butter and jelly cubes, tofu cubes, cubed chicken, cubed lamb, beef roast with potatoes and carrots, homemade hummus and pita bread, fresh steamed veggies, fruit of all kinds, homemade pizza, casseroles, homemade soups (butternut squash is his favorite!), beans of all kinds, yogurt and fresh fruit, cottage cheese, apple sauce, fruit smoothies, whole grain pasta and cream sauce, homemade beans and rice with stewed tomatoes, grilled cheese, homemade chicken nuggets....I offer a protein, grain, veggies, fruit and dairy with each meal. I love to cook! Lately our son has wanted to help with the cooking and it's so darn cute and fun! :) Enjoy!

Ditch the baby food! At this point you can cut anything up into tiny bits and she can have it. Yogurt, cut up bananas, cut up chicken nuggets, apple sauce, bread, and oatmeal were my daughter's favorites at that age.

At a year old your baby can eat whatever you eat. When my oldest was 10 months with 4 teeth she was eating off of my plate and my 7 month old is starting to do the same. I mean chicken, steak, all veggies and fruits. Just make sure you cut it up for her and she will be fine.

My little one has loved finger foods from the get go. She loves some of these:



- cooked veggies (sweet potatoes, peas, broccoli, carrots)

- any kinds of fruit (canned fruit packed in fruit juice can be nice as it is soft already, bananas are good, cook any apple and blend it up with the water you cook it in to make applesauce)

- toast cut into cubes or strips

- cheese cubes

- potato pancakes (mashed potato, egg yolk - not the whites!, and some fave veggies like mashed carrots. Shape into patties and fry like a pancake.)

- oatmeal banana mushy cookies - mash up a couple ripe bananas, add some ground up whole grain oatmeal or oatmeal baby cereal to make it a doughy texture, throw in a couple spoonfuls apple sauce and bake at 350 for like 15 minutes or until they can be lifted from baking sheet and stay together, grease the sheet. She loves these!

- any steamed, cut up veggies

- chicken cubes

- turkey meatballs - ground turkey, egg yolk, bread crumbs, seasonings, cook in pan

- omelets - egg yolks, mix with a little milk, cook with melted cheese and veggies inside

My son refused baby food at 7 months and has been eating finger foods since then at 14 months he only now has 6 teeth and still he can eat almost anything.......
Ideas;
scrambled eggs or cheerios or mini wheats and pancakes are his fave breakfasts
Steamed veggies, sandwiches, hot dogs, mac n cheese, lasagna, chicken, meat of any kind, potatoes, bread, egg noodles, grilled cheese, fish, fruits; bananas, blueberries and peaches are my sons absolute faves.
I took a first aid course to learn what to do if they are choking and I have never once had to use it. babies gag reflexes are alot better then you think. Just start off with small pieces and work your way up.
