Hi. My son is 5 years old and he will not play with his toys. He says it is boring. When we tell him to go and play with his toys in his room he either cries or just gets upset. One of his favorite lines is "this is the worst day ever!". I have explained to him that it is not a punishment but something every lil boy should do. Does anyone else have this problem? How do I resolve this?

But the other thing is that if I let him bring a few toys up into the living room he will play with them and seem interested. He will also sit down in front of the tv and just stay there when he is playing a game. So I really don't know if it's just him not wanting to play by himself or something else.

I have thought about him had ADD. I had him in therapy and I was also in it. They gave me this paper to take to his pre-school and the answers they gave leaned towards that. I have not talked to his Dr. about it for fear of the drugs. He is super smart but just has little concentration. I read up on it a few years back and it does sound like that. Just breaks my heart.

mmmm maybe it may be worth just taking him down to thedoctore, my little sister was exactly the same for years and it turned out she had a condition called ADD (attention deficate disorder) che basically couldnt concentrate on one thing at a time and would always want the attention of people around her or she got bored its worth just checkin it out

He would rather sit on the steps (which is the time out spot) than play in his room. I just don't get it.

The only thing he really likes to do is either watch tv or play video games. I do not want him sitting in front of the tv all day. Which he would do if I let him. He gets new toys all the time. Most of them he picks out himself. He will play with them for a day or two and never touch them again. He will play down there when there are other kids to play with. But for one I do not have any kids except my sisters to play with him. And obviously they can't be here all the time. I try to sit down and do things with him but his mind just wonders and he's bored in 10 minutes. I have tried everything I can think of to get him to play by himself. I just remember playing in my room for hours by myself. I really want his imagination to come out, but I feel like he just doesn't have one.

-find something he DOES like to do i. e painting, reading

-get him so different toys,

-maybe the toys he has are boring for him, he may be too used to them!

-get some other friends around to play with himhe may be lonely on his own!

- go into his play area with him or have someone do this and keep him company now and then he may just be lonely and mistaking it for bored

lemme know how it go's
