My sons bed wetting Issues!

My 4 year old son has been potty trained during the day since he was 2 and a half years old. A month before he turned three he had a bad accident. Before this accident he was only wetting the bed twice a week maybe. Now he is 41/2. He is going into his last year of headstart and pretty much evey night he wakes up soaked in his own pee. and i have to wash wash wash. A doctor recommended that we take him out of pull ups when he was three and a half so that when he does start to pee the bed he will feel it in his undies and wake himself up to use the bathroom. This has only helped a few times. I really really dont want to have to buy him pull ups anymore i already have to buy diapers for my one year old. we cut off his drinks etleast an hour or more before bedtime. tell him to go potty before bed. and still i wake him with the smell of urine fresh in the air in the morning. Any ideas. what should i do now??

ashley jimenez, his preeschool teacher suggested that as well taking him into the bathrom after he has been in bed asleep. I would like to try but he shares a room with his baby brother and im not sure how well he will settle back down to sleep afterwards

justine yaun, his bedtime schedual is always the same except when he spends the night somewhere, he quickly gets out of his wet clothes in the morning and gets fresh undies on. I just dont get it.

sometimes there are conditions where the brain is not conditioned to "hold it" (you can probably research it online if your doctor isnt saying this) but this is "fairly" common. i have a degree in early childhood education so from my perspective, i am going to ask, is his bedtime routine consistent? does he have a stable home environment (parents going in and out of the house, etc...) even those slightest things might set children off if they feel uneasy. another thing also would be, is he completely pottied trained during the day? if not are u consistent? is school consistent? does he clean up after himself when he wets himself during the day? giving him more responsibility like taking off his clothes and getting new ones and also cleaning up his body fluids might put a damper on his parade if he does it on "purpose" or "forgets"

i had the same problem with my son. my aunt told me that she had the same with my cousin so u bought a poster board and stickers. she told him if u dont go pee on your self then u get a happy sticker and if u do u get a sad sticker it worked on both boys. maybe u can try this. also i would get up and carry him to the potty every 2 hours a 2 weeks then he finally stopped going on himself

Well my step-daughter has the same problem. She never used to wet the bed but then her mother, how do I say this in nice terms.....told her things. So now she wets the bed. When we had her for summer vacation she maybe wet once or twice and that was the nights she came back from seeing her mother. So anyways, we don't give her anything to eat or drink after 7:30, bedtime is at 9-9:30. Then she usually watches a movie in her room and before she falls asleep I always have her go pee. So my only suggestion is to limit fluid intake before bed. I know sometimes they might get thirsty so give him only a swallow of water. Otherwise you will be waking up to urine again. I hope this works, cause it has worked for us. But she still wears good-nights when she goes to bed just in case. It never hurts to have a backup just in case.
