Try desitin overnight, it clears up the rash in one night, and you may want to try changing the type of diaper the baby uses, and in between diaper changes you can leave baby with out diapers for about 10-15 minutes.

I would consider changing the type of diaper and if that doesn't work, then begin checking if she may have any allerigies that's causing this: detergent, wipes, soap, formula, foods, etc. Hope your baby feels better!

when my son was just over a year he got a really bad rash on one side because of how he moved arond his nappy was rubbing the skin away my uncle suggested corn flour as he had heard it worked and after putting a small amount on him every day after a week it started to clear

Hi There. I can recommend something that really works. My son is 15 months and has never had a nappy rash cause whenever I saw the little pimples coming up I would apply this cream and they would dissapear. I used Prep Cream. It's produced by a company called Richelin Pharmaceuticals. It will clear up the rash in no time. Once rash is clear make sure to always use Vaseline to protect babies bottom. My sisters baby also had a bad rash, she had tried all baby creams which just made it worse, I recommended Prep Cream to her and it worked like a charm. The cream is actually for minor burns, stings, insects bites and such things, but it works wonders on nappy rash. It's a remedy that I got from my mom, she used it on my brother when he was a baby 18 yrs ago.

Use vaginal cream! It works magic. Also, here is SA (sorry, don't know where you're from) we have an ointment/cream called Antipeol. Mix that together with vaginal cream, and you get even more magic!!! But definitely use vaginal cream - I can promise you, you'll see a difference within about 2 or 3 days. Goodluck!

try to keep it clean all the time as in change her as soon as she goes out . put a little bicarb in a spray bottle with sum water and when u wipe her claean spray sum and wait for it to dry then apply thick bum cream i use fissan paste its the best .see how this works for you wish u all the luck

The only thing that always works for me when LG has nappy rash is Bepanthan with mezina or baby powder, but mezina is actually better! Try it for a few days, it really does work!!

Hey Kathryn! My daughter is almost 9 months old and is just getting over a really bad diaper rash that also looked like it could bleed. Hers also started when she started getting teeth and having worse diapers. I took her to see her ped. and he prescribed her a thick cream to put on 3-4 times a day and within one days use it was already 50% better! Within a few days of using it, the rash totally cleared up. Her ped said it looked like a yeast infection from the bad diapers while she's teething. It sounds like it could be the same thing. Hopefully that helps.

My daughter had the same thing, she would have patches of oozing bleeding areas even the size of my pinky finger nail.... It was due to the diapers we were using. They wer3e causing her to have a chemical burn. I had gone to the doc and gotten prescriptions and everything. Turns out, it was the new babydry diapers by pampers. They had stuck the liner in regular pampers diapers and didnt tell anyone to test it out. It was brutal and caused a lot of pain for her. try switching diapers

dont feel helpless. it might not be just the runny tummy and teething. i have a six year old and around the time she was teething she had a very severe nappy rash, as a first time mum i put it down to teething and just treated it normally but it continued to get worse so i took her to the doctor who diagnosed that her urine was to strong and acidic which was eating at her skin he prescribed a steriod cream that worked wonders. please go to the doctor to be on the safe sidenit could be that easy.

Brialynn had nappy rash as well,i was using pampers so i changed 2 huggies.It worked wonders 4 her.Also try using Sudocrem or Bepanthen,they are very good.

Another thing you can do is get pro-biotics power / tablet depending on the age and give it too them. It creates the right level of acidity in the body so that the ongoing poo does not burn the bum as much so that it gives you a chance to do the egg whites / bum cream / cornstarch and get the rash gone.

another thing I noticed with my daughter was that when we switched to a cheaper brand of nappies, the rash got worse. I also found that I had to change them a lot more frequently, as they didn't lock away moisture as well as the more expensive ones and therefore the urine would be in contact with her skin for longer, and would leave a bit of a burn. I switched back, and in combination with the anti-fungal cream, the rash cleared right up.

my daughter had a bad rash that no amount of cream would help, until my sister suggested that maybe she needed a mix of nappy rash cream and anti-fungal cream as her son had had a similar problem. I tried it and it cleared right up. Now I get a cream called Daktozin which is a combination nappy-rash/anti-fungal cream specifically for this problem. It's an over-the-counter cream at the chemist. It's not cheap but lasts a long time and definitely works for us. If you can't find it, just use a regular nappy cream and a separate anti-fungal cream such as Canesten

hi my daughter had the same thing even though she was not teething. i used Sudocream and cocobutter mix them together and place it where its needed,put on at every nappy change and in the next few days you will see a change.

liquid antacids like mylanta can keep the acids in sour tummies from burning her bum. also, letting the booty air out before putting the diaper on and avoiding powders should help. Also, a thicker and heavier ointment applied every diaper change can help. But if it doesn't clear up I would take her to the doctor and make sure that there isn't yeast present. Especially, if she has the extra drool. yeast loves drool. you can also add just a tad bit of baking soda in her bath water can help dry any oozies up. and a good method for booty cleaning is to rinse, spritz or spray rather than wipe. good luck.

when my daughter was cutting teeth she would get really bad rashes too... i had a friend suggest putting monistat on instead of the diaper rash cream with powder and it always cleared up way faster than with just the diaper rash cream

So sorry to hear it. My 1st had what doc called daiper burn. They looked like little holes on his bum. he recommended wiping with wet cotton swabs then applying Dr. smith's cream. It worked really well. My 2nd has a bad rash now but no burn cook's children's hosp gave us tube of extra strength desitin. we like the dr. smith's.

my son had the worst rash one could imagine to the point it could bleed. It was so raw. Airing out my son's butt w/ no diaper a few hours throughout the day helped a litte. The best diaper cream is Lansinol its expensive but it worked. I would also apply lotramin to kill the fungus at least 2x's a day.

all u need is a barrier cream. Oh I couldnt handle that. Poor wee thing. That must be so painful. I use sudocream . Works wonders! Didn't no you could get nappy rash cream from teethin. If my baby is left in a poo nappy I go MAD , he had a wee red bum , and I feel just so guilty.

The best stuff we've found is Bag Balm - it comes in a green tin and you can find it at Walgreens for $7 or so. It works wonders for any kind of diaper or other rash. For the runs I'd give her acidophilus - you can put it in yogurt or in a bit of juice or water to help regulate her.

You need to take her to the doctor, especially if it is bleeding. If changing the diaper frequently and putting cream on it doesn't help it is probably a yeast. My daughter had that too a few weeks ago. They will just give you a prescription for some inexpensive cream and it works very quickly. Just make sure the diaper area is dry before you put anything on it.

If her bum is red with little bumps all around, this could be a yeast infection. only an antifungal will rid her of this and after 24 hours of the yeast cream, you will be amazed at how fast it goes away!! Miconazole is over the counter, but you can get something stronger from your doctor. Good luck!

it could be a yeast infection diaper rash. when my Mia had it, i used monistat mixed with balmex and it cleared up within a day or two. pharmacist also said could use athlete's foot cream. but get it diagnosed first that way you'll know for sure that is what the rash is.

Ur pediatrican could prescribe Nystain. That sometimes works. I have also used Bag Balm or even Bag Balm & corn startch. Try those 2 remedies I hope her rash clears up soon. Also have ur Lil one take sits bath with warm water & absolutely no soap or bubbles in her bath, & let her diaper area airdry/ airout 4x's a day.
It's very common 2 rash out when teething or 2 even get a cold when teething . If ur Lil one it's having lots of fruit or acidy drinks try cutting those back 4 a few days

Desitin is amazing. Try after baths, before bed, after each changing and make sure you change her every 2 hours. Desitin will help her with her pain and help healing and avoid it getting worse. (If you don't like desitin there are other brands).

my daughter sophie has had really bad nappy rash since birth... i went through all the nappy rash treatment creams i could find... they still never worked... then i asked my nan as a last resort... she sugested the aloe vera plant... wat you do is break a bit of the plant scrape the mushy stuff out of it and crush it up... then apply to ur childs bottom or effected area.. it worked for my daughter and its natuaral... why not give it a go...

hi there... my daughter is 9mths old and when she first started teething she had the same problem, it looked like her bottom had been burnt by something, i took her to the doctor and they gave me 'Hydrozole" Here in Australia you can get it over the counter at the chemist. Use it morning and night only until her bottom has heeled... i actually used it for a couple of days after as well just to make sure. I also made sure Marley was having plenty of water as the acid in her urine and poo must have been irritating it. Hope this helps you :) good luck. :)

My daughter has a milk allergy and her diaper rash was so bad it had open sores that blead due to constant BMs. The Dr. Told me to get a product called critic aid. It will be at a medical supply type store and is used for adults with colostomy bags. It's a thick paste that keeps the rash covered while still being absorbent to keep urine and BMs off the skin. my little girl has really bad nappy rash too ... i've tried many things, she seems to be itching it now though. I've not changed nappies or wipes etc. If it carries on I'm going to the Drs with it. I don't know how I feel about putting egg whites on my daughter :\

johnsons do a johnsons naturals nappy rash cream and its brilliant my little girl doesnt get nappy rash that often but wen she does its really bad and bleeds and this cream clears it in a couple of days. give it a go hope it works hunni x

Baking soda in the bath water helps - 1 tablespoon for a big bath. My son's bum was like that at birth and the midwife said that it was thrush, so needed fungal cream - clomazol. I use Pawpaw cream for a barrier cream, and disposable cleaning cloths cut up for wipes.

Hi Kathryn. As i am sure you have now realised, you (and poor Mia) are deffinately not alone in this. It is a very common problem and one that, as an early childhood teacher and mum to a 17mth old I have noticied and learnt things through dealing with a lot of little bottoms! Here is my blurb... I can get a bit pasionate about it but I hope you find some this helpful.

So firstly, as mentioned above you really need to establish if it is thrush ( a yeast/fungal infection) or a straight rash which has not healed. I have seen both bleeding and heart breakingly sore in my time. But you do need to know what you are dealing with to give the appropriate treatement. If it is thrush the medicated cream is going to clear it up quickest but if you want to stop it coming back you really need to look holistically at a whole lot of things which all interplay with each other. Unfortunately as I have found with other things alot of doctors just look at the medicine that 'fixes' without looking at other simpler things which will help keep you well and avoid you getting so bad again.

Firstly just think of yourself - you want 'everything' to be ale to breathe and you really want to avoid perfume and lotions and potions with all kinds of nasty ingredients. Just because it says it is for babies it doesn't mean it is going to be good- you really want to keep it as natural as possible.

Like someone said disposale nappies have a lot to answer for.
It is very cleaver that they can make a nappy that can absorb about 5 hours of wee from a toddler and not fall off.... but it doesn't mean we should do it (not saying you do)

Once it was checked out if I were you I would:

*Change nappies over regulaly for now unill healed- don't let anything hang around for too long!
*Yes as mentioned gently washing by sloshing water around or gently dabbing my work better to clean- be aware that if sitll bleeding anything too warm may hurt ...luke warm is better.
* Don't use any soap in that area- good rule for us too if you want to avoid thrush;-) ! Iuse Aqueous cream for Luca.It is a moisturiser for dry skin and also asensitive skin soap substitute . $7 at the Chemist/Drug Store in my part of the world for a pot that lasts ages. Other natural products around just a bit more expensive.
*Most wipes are full of preservatives, perfumes, alcohol....
I use one of two natural brands i have found at the supermarket and buy on special. I use tiolet paper also so I dont have to use so many. Also paper towels moistened work well.
*vasaline has its uses but will not let air in so not the bet choice here.
*Natasha metioned Papaw cream and I swear by it; Lucas Papaw Ointment- great for saw bums ihave seen it work wonders on a girl who's rash was bleeding and was screaming and shaking in pain :-( also, cracked nipples, sore lips, burns...
*Also if you can look into using modern cloth nappies even part time i believe that will help. I use Muumi nappies when i can't use washables- yes a bit more expensive but worth it for him and on the days i use washables i save. By doing all this my son has never once had the problems that I have seen with other children

I think going diaper-free is the best for keeping away the rashes. The wetness and bacteria in diapers really irritates it. Our son also had a yeast infection, and it takes anti-fungal cream to clear that up, usually. I thought it was diaper rash, but it wouldn't go away until I asked the Dr and got the anti-fungal (over the counter).



After that we never left him in a wet diaper even for a few minutes and let him go a lot without a diaper, and he never got another diaper rash. We even put him on the potty occasionally and he would go in there, which cut down on the messes. I really think cloth diapers are better for rashes because it was easier for us (and him) to tell when they were wet, and so we change them more often. If in disposables at daycare, I would recommend you ask them to change it often, like every 1-2 hours, and see if they'd try cloth for a while. I *think* that some of the chemicals in the disposables could definitely irritate, especially if it's already sore. Hope that's helpful!

its crazy i just posted to the same question,but yours sounds more like the situation i was in my daughters rash was horrible i tried everything her bottom was bleeding, i went to the doctors it turned out to be yeast and is very common in little girls,they prescribed nystatin,diaper cream not even desitin which i swear by will work,i was crying every time i had to change her

Same situation with my son.. use a high concentration of zinc oxide like 30.5% thats what the dr gave me but if yours wont Butt paste worked for him too. good luck

Change diaper brands and diaper creams? I don't know where you live but Huggies the natural cotton kind disposables and Desitin extra creamy diaper cream helped my daughter's bad rash. Maybe you can have your pediatrician prescribe something like a hydracortisone cream. Good luck!!!

A chemist suggested once to mix little Nystacid with sudocrem or Multipeol and apply that, my LO also got bad nappy rash when she was teething to teh point it was bleeding and everytime she made a wee she screamed .... that mix cleared it up in less than a day

Hi there, our little girl has never had it that bad, but when she was first born we used disposable nappies and had heaps of dramas with rash. we have now changed to the all-in-one modern cloth nappies and have not had a problem since (she is now 5 months old). Also, paw paw ointment - i don't know if you get that outside Australia, but works wonders. Plus, lots of bare bum time rolling around on a towel.

USE BAG BALM!!! It comes in a square metal container and its green, you can get it at walmart, target,cvs or walgrees too....even grocery store too. Its the best, my new born was bleeding from formula allergy and we tried everything, and bag balm works the best. The key is to put it on and not wipe it off, gently wipe and to get poo off, urine is sterile so it wont hurt it, then add more cream. The bag balm is a cure all for everything to diaper rash, cracked feet, people who sew or quilt use it on their hands and its primary use is veterinary for sore cow utters from milking. its the BEST!!!

My daughter was the same way. I was told to change her diapers to a diaper for sentive skin or natural. I used to use Pampers but they dont make their sensitive diapers past size 2 or 3 I think. So I had to use Huggies Pure and Natural ( the only thing I don't like about them is the biggest bag I can find only carry around 50) Also to to wash her up with a wash cloth and take a break on the wipes. Bathe her and make sure she is completly dry and then apply A&D ointment. It works great and it cmes off clean, I had some cream that I had to wipe multipl times to even get off her skin. Boudreaux's Butt cream ( I found it at Target) works great to. I hope this helps you!
