Need advice on adoption

My husband and I have a daughter who is 4 and a half and we have been trying to get pregnant again for the last 4 years without success :( My husband was adopted and we are thinking that we might like to explore this avenue!!! We have done some online research and are leaning towards foster-adoption as an alternative to just outright adopting because the costs are far less. I would love to hear from any Moms who have gone through this process and any moms who have adopted in the province of Alberta, where we are!!! Thank you so much :)

My aunt adopted both of my cousins. The whole process was very stressful and expensive, but worth it in every way.

Hey there! My mom did adopt my youngest brother. Although, not in Alberta but I can give you some advice on the process. First of all, it is very stressful and emotiional. If you adopt directly from the mother, she can tend to change her mind really quick or wait about a year or so. That was my mom's case. She just wanted mom and dad to raise her son and when he was 9 months old she tried to take them to court and get him back. Fortuanately, she had no money or a place to live so the judge was on my parents side and all they have to do is send her pictures once a year. Adoption agencies can be very expensive that is why my parents adopted from a young mother and just got a lawyer to do all of the paperwork. I would suggest to continue to do research and find the most efficient way for you and your family. Also, continue to try to have your own. It just takes time. I know a couple that gave up and adopted and when the adopted child turned 2 she found out she was 10 weeks pregnant. Adoption is not a bad thing and they have no way of knowing that they are not biologically yours. My little brother is spoiled rotten and honestly the older he gets the more he looks like us! hey i havent adopted any children but my daughter was adopted i still get to see her and everything so i love that i do wish you luck and i hope that everything works out great for you guys idk but if maybe you want some info about what kind of adoptions you are thinking of doing i can help you on the open adoption side and how its affecting me so far my daughter is almost 2

I have never been through the adoption phase myself but i know a few heart wrenching stories that come with adoption....you must be prepared for all that may come with the experience...a friend of mine had waited 15 years with his wife for an adoption 2 come through...they finally received a call and went 2 idaho from ny 2 get their newborn baby girl...they fell in love...7 days later the biological mother wanted her baby and they lost the baby...it is a wonderful reward if it follows through but u have 2 expect the worse also...have u thought about surrogate mothering? sometimes thats a lil better...
