my son just turned 10 mths on the 28th and i took him to the doctor on the27th, 28th and to the er the 29th...the 27th they put him on the nebulizer wit albuterol every 4 hours and something else twice a day..then the second day at dr. office the put him on steriods bc he wasn't getting better and his oxygen was really low both days then on saturday i took him to the er they gave him a 5 min. breathing treatment it didn't elp them they gave im a steriod medicine in mouth the took him for chest x-rays then he had to do a breathing treatment for 1 hour and then he fell asleep and they but him on an antibiotic for pnemonia. But when we got to the er they took us rigt back bc his oxygen was low. then when it was time to go they tested his oxygen again n it was low so they asked if he had been dignosed with sleep acnea and i said no it stayed low as long as he was asleep but when u woke him up good enough his oxygen would go back up...any advice or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.....But they also told me that he had asthma and that he was having a bad asthma attack and to take him to the doctor for a check-up in 2-3 days so he goes back to the dr tomorrow. but it doesn t seem like hes getting any better it seems worse and like nothing is helping he sits and cries most of the day...help please any advice will help.....

Yeah my son had RSV at 5 months old and it lasted an ENTIRE week and was a TOTAL nightmare. We had to stay awake with him all night to make sure he kept breathing, due to sooooo many boogers and bronchitis congestion, wheezing and they mentioned an allergy or asthma too possibly.... He also had a huge temperature and an ear infection. Does your baby have a temp? If he does pop a temperature, know that there is Motrin and Tylenol you can give them in childrens form and that you are supposed to give the Motrin to him once, then wait 3 hours, then give the Tylenol. Then the motrin and tylenol and keep doing this to keep a constant temp in your kid. This took us 2 days to learn and was a nightmare. Also, if your baby doesn't like liquid drops, look for the packages of medicine that say Oral Concentration, it's a gel form and it is much easier to give young ones. Ask the doctor for doseage information on these drugs just in case, as under 1 isn't listed on the packages.

You can buy a nebulizer for home so that you can do the treatments there instead of running back and forth all the time. I would, expecially as your son has pneumonia and asthma and is that sick with such trouble breathing.... I know it costs about 50$, the same as a humidifier, and the doctor can prescribe the medicine that goes in it.

Sleep apnea is no joke, and if his oxygen is low when sleeping that sounds exactly like what it is. So I would look into it and ask your doctor tomorrow how to help with the apnea. He may have to sleep with oxygen or you give it to him in the middle of the night? Not sure how that would work.

We bought a humidifier and I was really worried about that choice decision as we had to hold our son over it sometimes. We also filled the bathroom up with hot steam by running hot water and closing the door. This helped him a lot.

I would be really really worried, because even as sick as our son was, yours sounds much sicker! The low oxygen, pneumonia and asthma is a very very bad combination. So I would definiatly be interested in what the doctor has to say tomorrow...

I'd think if he is crying so much during the day, he is probably feeling really bad and exhausted by not getting good enough sleep...

Also, our sons worst days were the first 3, so since it's been 5 days for you guys... be careful and keep an eye on him. Don't let the doctors make you feel like a paranoid mommy, whatever you do. They are very good at doing this on autopilot and downplaying situations.

Whatever you do, ask as many questions as possible. Bring a frickin notebook - there was so much when we went in with our son that I was glad my boyfriend was there because I missed half of it! Write down your concerns and the doctors answers... and then think about it for a minute before asking more questions to make sure you cover all the basis..... sleep apnea, pneumonia, asthma, nebulizer for home treatment, etc.... Good luck
