My husband and I have been avoiding each other for about 2 weeks now. We have kept conversations simple, only talking about schedules and kids. It seems that every time we get together lately we end up arguing about the simplest things. We have decided to have a date

Friday night and try to go back to our normal communication.
We have 4 kids and no extra money for a sitter. So, we have decided to have the "date" at home after the kids go to bed. Our problem is that we want to have fun together. Every time we hang out at home we both end up indecisive on what to do and then just sit and watch T.V.

Please help! Our marriage is greatly in need of a good time together, if we can just get past this funk.

Any suggestions on how we can make something different happen and actually have fun together at home?

Have you tried borrowing a board game and getting in a bottle of wine? I know it sounds a little 80's, but my partner and I love it!! Especially if it's a question orientated game, as it starts lots of "new" conversations about different subjects.....? Just an idea.

My partner and I are the same...to indecisive so we end up watching something crappy on TV that neither of us particularly enjoy. Maybe take it in turns for each week, to save the "do you want to? If you do? I asked first!" routine. One week, you plan it, the next, he plans it.

We like to play board games and cards. I like the ideas about the appetisers as well! More often than not though, we turn off all the lights, light some candles out on the porch, pour some drinks and just chat. We have time limits on topics that tend to lead to arguments (such as work, money etc.) or they are banned all together.

Good luck!

Sometimes what we'll do too, is feed the kids supper and wait till they are in bed before we make our appetizers. I makes it seem more like a date I guess! lol

It does help, thank you. I can still get fixed up a bit, I guess. And appetizers is a good idea because of how late it will already be.

A lot of times my hubby and I just end up watching a movie or tv as well, which isn't the greatest! lol

We like to play games, so we do that from time to time after the kids go to bed. Or if we don't feel like playing a game, we'll get all dolled up like we are going on a date and just make something fun for appetizers or something at home. Then we'll either sit and watch a movie or we'll just chat or we will play a game sometimes too.

Hope this helps a little bit anyway!! Good luck!
