I am six weeks postpartum, and started having cramps this morning... I had a c-section, and right after the pumped me full of pitocin, and a little over a week ago I stopped bleeding.... Has anyone else started their period only six weeks after having their baby???

It depends on when your hormone levels drop before you start your period. I would say it is different for everyone. I breastfed my daughter so it took me 7 months to have a period again and another several months before they were normal. Don't worry.

I got my period 2 days before my 6 week exam and I was breastfeeding. All women are different.

Are you nursing? I bled for the first month with both of mine, and with my last one didn't have my first period until Jan of 2010 he was born Sept 2008. I obviously was a nursing mom. The body will expel what it can afford to I think.

I had a c-section in November. Right around the 6 week, postpartum mark, I too got my period. nothing to worry about, just annoying!

I have had 2 c-sections and both times i bleed for 4weeks after then 2 weeks later i started my period. They were regular from then on. I didn't breast feed either of my boys. My friends and i have all shared our stories and each one is different. After my second son i decided to get the implanon Birth control Implant when he was 2 1/2 months old and i haven't had a period in over 2 months its fantastic. I have also heard not to use tampons for a while after until your body has gotten back to normal.

I bled for 2 weeks after my son and 3 weeks after my daughter. My periods never started after my son as I fell pregnant with my daughter when my son was 9 months old before my first cycle. with my daughter it was 9 months. She is now 10 months and I have had 2

I am also 6 weeks post-partum. My daughter was born vaginally, and I only bled for 2 1/2 weeks. I have had some mild spotting since, but nothing major. It is different for every woman and every pregnancy. Most doctors say that a woman should start their period by 6-8 weeks, but not all women do.

Generally you will bleed 6 after your c-section. Do NOT use tampons or have sex until your doctor clears you. Mine then started a normal cycle after that point. But the best thing to do would be to check with you doctor to make sure they feel things are progressing along normally.

I had my daughter on 3/19, and I have not gotten my period back yet and I am NOT breastfeeding. I bled for just shy of 6 weeks after giving birth. If you breastfeed, sometimes you won't get your period back until you stop. You are not supposed to use tampons for at least the first 6 weeks, but since you had a c-section I am not sure if the same rules apply to that as a vag birth. You might want to as your doc about that before you do.

I bled for three weeks after my son was born. Three to four weeks after I stopped bleeding, I got my period and have been getting them regularly ever since so it is possible. If you aren't bleeding yet though maybe it could be ovulation cramps? Before I had my son I never had them and now they are SO bad it's worse than when I get my actual period. I used tampons right away and it was fine but it might be better to ask you doctor like was already mentioned.

Stick to pads and liners for now. Wait until you can get in to your Dr for your post check up. I still don't use tampons and my youngest is 1yr. But where you had a c-birth it might be fine? Remember to wait until you have an actual period before having sex because you will not know when you will ovulate and pregnancy is much easier after a baby.

Well I am exclusively FF, so I was just wondering if I was going to start my period cause I haven't had any bleeding for a little over a week!!! Does anyone know if I start my period if I can use tampons, or should I stick to panty liners and pads for now???

I bled with both of my natural births from delivery for up to 5 weeks and then stopped for 2 weeks and started again.
If you notice any changes in how your periods were before you got PG or notice clots bigger then a quarter then go to the ER or call your labor and delivery unit and ask them for help, they may want you to come in there to get looked at where you had a c-birth.
Good luck

I bled for a month after my daughter was born, and didn't have a period until she was about 8 months old. I am still breastfeeding (she's turning 1 really soon) and I think missing a pill or two may have caused the periods to start. I had one every 2 weeks until just recently. It was almost 4 weeks, not quite (i missed a pill again).
