Parents Choice Formula

I have been only breastfeeding my son since birth, last night i had no breast milk i kept pumping and nothing i freaked out i didn't know what to do! He was hungry! I made up my mind and went to walmart i bought parents choice gentle formula because of the price. On my way home i began thinking maybe i should have bought a brand name formula...i felt awful that i had to give him formula in the first place, my goal was to breast feed till his first year...the point is i read the label and it has everything the same as enfamil gentlease except for iodine PC has 15 EG has 10 everything else SAME!!!

I switched from similac and enfamil to parents choice with both of my children who both had G.E.R.D. and it seems like the parents choice actually helped with that i have compared the labels and they have the exact same amounts of everything so there is really no difference but the label and the huge price cut it is probably just a growth spurt and i wouldnt worry to much about it hope it helps :)

Hey it could be both. We used it because of cost too. But Brandon seemed to do really well on. We had to use the soy one because he spit up a lot. but that was on every other formula.

I used it with my kids and they both did okay on it! Maybe its just a growth spurt! You may want to try adding some cereal!! Good Luck!

I have been using parent's choice from the beginning. My son has also had enfamil. Honestly, he eats the same no matter what kind of formula he is on. The only difference that I see is in my pocketbook.

We used it for both of my kids and didn't see a difference in their eating habits. You might be onto something with the growth spurt. Either that, or your LO might just like it better and want more. Either way, never had any complaints. Loved the money-savings and that my kids took to it.

we used similac and switched to parents choice and had no problems with it. if it helps ease your mind, all baby formula has to be approved by the FDA, if it doesn't pass their standards its not allowed in the stores. and i would say your feeding your baby more is a growth spurt. good luck

It's probably just a growth spurt. My oldest was on parents choice and he absolutely loved it. he wouldn't drink any other one. Now we're on wic, so I get the formula, but when we run out, we still get parent's choice for my other 2. I've never noticed a problem with it and it's pretty nice on your wallet.

I used parents choice for my daughter from about 3 months, All baby formulas have to meet the same FDA standards as the name brands. Sounds to me like your little one is going through a growth spurt and there will be many of those, which is also why is nice to save the money on the formula, since it really adds up! We switched from Enfamil to Parents Choice. My doctor also said that there is no difference in the formula's. My son has had no problems with the formula. He seems to have less gas on it then he did with Enfamil. Your baby is growing and will need more food to support your babies growing body. but if you are really concerned about it, talk to your pediatrician.

have you tried getting on WIC? it's a really good program for moms. whether you're low income or not they can help you with it, and then you will more than likely be on good start... i think its the best one... but seriously, apply for WIC, you wont regret it...

I've used Parent's Choice since we brought my daughter home from the hospital and she's been doing fine. Probably just a growth spurt. I asked my pediatrician about it when we started using it, and she said that it's actually the same as a name-brand formula sold over-seas (I think it's called Formulaid), just that Wal-Mart bought the rights to distribute it in the states! So, it's no worse than a name-brand...I've actually heard from several parents that their children tolerated it better than Enfamil/Similac/etc...and it's cheaper?! SOLD!

At first I was freaked out by the idea of an off brand formula, but once i tried it and there were no side effects or problems with my daughters tummy...it was like christmas everytime i bought formula bc of the cheapness of parents choice!!!!

I used the similac sensitive too, in fact out of the five different kinds that I tried, similac sensitive is the one that I used the most as I found that it was the least troublesome for my Son even though he still had lots of gas and spit up.  I wanted to try the parent's choice brand, but up until a month ago, our wal-mart did not carry the parent's choic "gentle" formula which is the cheaper version of the similac sensitive....but oh how I wish it had, because I have gone through 5 months of hell trying to figure out my Son's issues, and ever since I started him on the parent's choice formula he has been a different kid.  He's not as gassy, doesn't spit up as much and seems satisfied with the amount he is given.

I'm just glad to see that other parents are having success with it as well.

My son used it for months bc buying Similac was getting too expensive. We'd buy the BIG containers of Parent's Choice n he did great. No problems with constipation or nething. I recomend it even if u do have deep pockets. Ur lil one must be going thro a growth spurt bc my son did great on it. U may need to start the lil one on solids..how old?

I used it (also because of the cost, it is waaay cheaper!) and had great success with it! The pediatrician assured us that it is just as good as the more expensive brands.

I had the opposite experience to what you had with Enfamil and Parent's Choice. I tried about five different kinds and Enfamil was one of them, but I found that my Son was not happy with it, he was always gassy and irritable from being hungry (it didn't seem to fill him up) and then I switched to Parent's Choice "Gentle" and he is a different baby these days. He doesn't spit up as much, has little gas and feels satisfied after he eats (most of the time he doesn't quite finish the bottle, leaving about 1/2 oz). I didn't think Parent's Choice would work at first, being that it's a cheap brand, but wow was I wrong! It is very possible that your child is going through a growth spurt and might just need more oz rather than a switch in formula. I would finish this can of formula and switch to another brand to be sure and then gauge it from there. I am finding the feeding thing to be mostly "trial and error"...I never know for absolute certain that I'm doing the right thing...just going with my gut.

I never used it w/my oldest but my daughter is 10 months and absolutly loves it!! Its actually the only formula she doesnt spit up w/plus it doesnt clump up as easy as the others. She eats constantly so I wouldnt notice if she was drinking more of it than the others or not. Hope this helps you out.

I use Parents Choice .1) because its cheaper and 2) because my daughter took to it better then the similac or enfamil she threw up alot on the expencive ones but doesnt on the cheaper on .

Do you qualify for WIC? It is not only for the poor. There are different income guidelines with infants. Check it out. It is worth a shot and is such a money saver!!!!

I did the same with my son. He couldn't handle it it caused his reflux to act up and it seemed like I was feeding more often. I switched to Similac Sensitive RS for awhile and used the coupons you get in the mail. I finally switched to Carnation Good Start and he did fine. I got lots of coupons for that too. Lots of buy 1 get one free and such. He did really well on it. I'm planning on starting my newborn on Good Start after about 8 wks of breastfeeding.

I have never used it. But just wanted to say that all store brand products are made by the same manufacturers as name brand. like another mom said you pay for the name. and i know that parents choice is made by the same company that makes enfamil.

This is true not just for formula but all things.  Anything made out of natural materials cannot be trademarked ... specific formulas can be but not the actual product.  That's why you see those non-labels next to the expensive labels.  They have purschased rights to the standard ingredients from the expensive labels and copied them to create the same product for less b/c it's not a label.  Anything that is a label that is better than generic ... doesn't even have a generic.  Truth ... check it out if you want.  For this very reason I typically avoid the labels as they are seeking only to rob those that are shallow enough to only purchase labels.  True story: Evian bottled water brags about the fact that their name is actually Naive spelled backwards since the world is so naive to believe that a bottled water sold in the store is any more healthy than that from your tap.  Just food for thought.

all formula is pretty much the same as far as calories and such. I used parents choice with baby number 1 and she did just fine. It is much cheaper and just as good (so long as you get the DHA/ARA) I would say your bubba is haveing a growth spurt. what this means is that you should offer more formula. many people think when they drink more formula it is time to start solids but this is false. giving solids to young can cause your baby to not put on the weight that he needs to develope properly and be healthy. A good thing to do is to prepare 1 extra ounce of formula for every feed than what he is drinking and when he is able to finish the bottle start adding an extra ounce.
at one point my daughter was drinking 10 ounce bottles every 3 hours even during the night. she is not a big girl (15 pounds at a year old) eventually when her spurt ended she was back to 8 ounces every 5 hours and when we started solids 3 times a day with snacks in between she leveled out at 24 ounces in 24 hours.
but I am getting off topic here lol.
yes, parents choice is a fine formula and is comparable to the big brands.

I was doing Good Smart Soy formula. My sister started the parents choice and it seemed to be the same. Depending on the age of your child they might need some rice cereal or something else to full their little belly :)

i used parent choice andmy little one seemed to have no problems with it and yes feeding more is her growing once she hits like 2 months try putting the infant cereal in it it might help with the hunger thing mine didnt like the ceral to much but she liked the flavored kind only for a short peiod though good luck

I used Parents choice formula the entire time with my daughter and it was good for us. She seem to be full on it! And when i was deciding i looked at the labels and it has just about all the same stuff other formulas have. I stuck with Parents choice cause of the cost and it served me and my daughter well.

I use Members Mark (Sams brand) My son does good on it. We also switched for the cost. For 3 pounds of formula it was about $20. What a savings and the doctor said it was okay!

I used this with my second one ... in fact, it was the only one she didn't have problems with. She did really good with it and in the end ... it cost SO much less than the others. As for the eating more, it prolly is a growth spurt. Good Luck!!!

I started my son on similac and than switched to the Target brand of formula than eventually to the Parents choice walmart brand and didn't have any problems switching over....your little one is probably going through a growth spurt

We used similac at first but then switched over to Parent's Choice. My husband actually looked at the back of both cans and they were identical in all the ingrediants. My daughter has never had a problem with it and the price helps too!

i use parent's choice and haven't notice any feeding changes.she always ate alot.so i talk to the doctor and she suggestion starting rice cereal 2 times a day.i'm also on wic which uses enfamil.u should check into ur local health department to see if u can get wic.

My daughter could not use it. She kept getting gas and all bound up. She would scream. My dad (also a chiropractor) tried to adjust her but it didn't help. I found it was worth it just to pay the little extra.

My first child was eventually formula fed, and I couldn't find anything formula that she could keep down except for the parents choice organic formula. This was the only formula that she keep down and got full on. It doesn't have near the smell of other formulas either.

I used Parents Choice for my oldest when he was a baby. He liked it just as much as Enfamil and He didn't seem to spit up as much. We used Similac with my youngest because we were on WIC at the time but I definitely would have used Parents Choice again. I think it is just a growth spurt:)

i actually switched from enfamil to parents choice because enfamil and similac \both made my daughter sick and throwup.if you compare the ingredients and nutritional info you will find that the diferences are very minute. they are pretty much EXACTLY the same thing. not to mention its easy on the wallet. im betting that it is just a growth spurt i also found that the parents choice diapers are AWESOME i switched from huggies cause my daughters poop kept coming out the back and legs of huggies, ive been using the parents choice diapers for 1.5 years, and ive never had another accident like that :). i also use the parents choice wipes cause they are unscented, hypoallergenic and have aloe in them....AND i use the parents choice baby shampoo too :)
