My 11month old baby gilr is constantly getting diarrhea for two weeks since she finished her antbiotics. I took her to the doctor 3 weeks ago for cough and the doctor said one of her ear is pink and she is getting ear infection which i doubted when she said that because my child was fine and eating well almost 23lbs.I think i made a miskate listening to the doctor because my child got sick after she took the medication and still has darriah and loosing weight a lote. she almost lost 5lbs for 10 days and I am afriad she will loose everything.I took her to ER last thursday because she had rashs in her diaper area from the darriah and the creams weren't helping her and the doc priscribed fungus cream and pedialyte.the rushes is gone but she is still loosing because she can't not drink her milk and food because doc said i should only keep her in pedialyte and nothing else.sometimes i give her banana, white rice, rice cereal and that didn't help stop the darriah.please help me with any advice.I am going crazy and worried!

Sometimes their little tummies need a break. I've had that problem with my boys before. What a day. i called the doctor and she told me don't even do the brat diet. Their stomaches needed to relax. When everytime you put something in them, it comes out, then it's just making it take longer for them to get better. Just give pedialyte and only pedialyte until you think her tummy can handle anything else. Or if she is able to ask for it, then wait till she lets you know she is hungry. Hope she feels better soon, and that you can get some rest too.

I've always been told by our pediatrician to offer yogurt twice a day while our son is on antibiotics to help with the diarrhea since antibiotics can cause diarrhea. Seems to work really well for our son as he never gets diarrhea while taking antibiotics. Also I'm not sure I would only offer pedialyte and nothing more, seems like weird advice in my opinion. Most children who are not feeling well will have a decrease in appetite but that doesn't mean you only offer pedialyte. Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast are also great things to offer. Yogurt is your best bet for helping with the diarrhea. Good luck and I hope she feels better soon!

Hi,
I have 4 kids and have been there. As far as diaper rashes the lansinoh nipple cream works well as well as pure cornstarch powder. For the diarrhea stick to clear fluids and the BRAT diet. B=bananas R= rice A=applesauce T=toast. Pedialyte for any more than 3 days causes more diarrhea. Also no juices. That should help. There are also suppositories you can buy over the counter to help with diarrhea. Good luck
