pooping problems

I use MiraLAX or Fiber powder in my son's juice. He was really backed up and it was causing him pain. With the MiraLAX I was told by my son's pediatrition to only use 1/2 of the cap full 3 times a day. They have Fiber One Bars and poptarts. I'd stay away from cow products. It my mom eats a lot of cheese she get's backed up, but she's not lactose intolerant. It sounds like she wants to be in control. This is not abnormal.

my one dauhter has the same problem. do not give her any kind of laxative or enama, they are not for kids!! anyway, i had to take her to see a gastroenterology doctor that specializes in constipation. it is very common in young kids exspecially girls. if it doesn't get better i would have her seen by one as well. the doctor told me that it doesn't have anything to do with eating cheese or any dairy. they had me give my daughter miralax and some root beer flavored kid stuff that makes them poop. i still give her miralaxa and it could take a year or more for her to start pooping normally. talk to her doctor and let them know and they could probably give you ideas on where the closest gastroenterlogyst is. good luck and hope it gets better

My son has the same problem, it's very sad to see them in so much pain. Make sure she gets lots of fresh fruits, sultana's are great and a handy snack I give them to my son daily, and juice, try giving her prune juice mixed with water when she gets really bad. When she is really badly constipated put her in a warm bath for about twenty minutes, apparently this loosens and helps relax their bowel muscles (That's why so many kids poop in the bath!) plus it should help a little bit with the pain. If you really think she might have problems with dairy try taking her to another doctor, a second opinion never hurt anybody!

I've worked in child care with the 2 year olds for 2 years now. We do most of the potty training in my class and I always wondered why kids would always have a harder time pooping in the potty.. I finally asked a doctor about it and the doctor said that most kids have a fear that when they poop, they are letting their insides fall out and dont want that. Sometimes it helps if they poop in something other than a big toilet- like a mini toilet type thing. Or their diaper.. which defeats the whole purpose.. but rewarding them always seems to work. As far as her being constipated.. I would just suggest more fiber, maybe a laxative, or as others have said.. lots of juice. You might want to also check and see if she has hemorrhoids- that might be whats hurting.. Anywho- hope I helped a lil bit.. good luck!

my brother is lactose intolerant and he cant go to the toilet... So that might be the problem.. My sone is Aswell and the docs told me there was no way that he was... but i also give him goat and soy milk and he is much better..

my son did this for like 2 months when i first started potty training him. it's hard i'll be the first to admit it, he would go days, like 4 or 5 days without pooping. once he went 7 days it was awful!! like the others said juice is good but i would go for prune juice or gerber makes a prune apple juice, and lots of fiber in her diet, that will make it harder for her to hold it. then i just had to get firm with him, when he would cry cuz his tummy hurt i stopped coddling him and explained over and over that if he would go poop it wouldn't hurt. i also did a reward chart and make a big deal when he did go poop, i'm talkin hugs, cheers, we made up a song, go all out! he also got a sticker on his chart and if he got 3 he would get a toy from the store, like a match box car or something little, not too expensive!! just remember its a phase and this too shall pass!! good luck i hope this helped!!!

She could be lactose intolerant, there is something you can ask for at the chemist over the counter, talk to the pharmacist

What does the mum say?? My doctor also thinks my son in not lactose intolerant however I believe he is as he has porblems with milks, cheese etc. The people that care for her daily know best. I changed to goats milk and all is well. It's closer to human milk than cows milk, it's worth a try.

Thank you we do give her lots of juice and the poop is not hard. She just hates to go poop. She squeezees her butt checks together and pushes it back in. Which then causes even more pain and crys. We always say things like that every body poops and that it is ok to poop..but she still just holds it in and refuses to go!!!!

Try giving her apple juice. I give my daughters apple juice when they seem to get constipated. Also while I do that I try to stay away from milk, cheese, or anything dairy cause that seems to get my girls all backed up too. My neice started refusing to poop also and that was because one time when she did poop it hurt her so from then on she started to hold it in and the doctor told my sister in law to give her a laxative I can't remember the name of it but I know it started w/ a M and it is sold over the counter which it made it easier for her to go. But I would try apple juice. I give my girls apple juice at least once a day. Also try putting more fiber in her diet that way it will make it easier for her to go. I hope it works for you

I would try to push juice first. See if it loosenes her up so it wont be so painful. If thast dosnt work i think i have seen an add for a kid product..gosh what is it....disolvable strip supposed to help them go. I remember it cause the add inteh mag was so cheezy. Sally needs to poop. But sally couldnt go... Sally mom gave her ???, and then she could go! WTF was it?? ill get back to you.
