I am having a hard time getting my youngest to potty train. He will set on the potty for a long time but then gets up and goes either on the floor or in his diaper or training pants! HELP!!!

Potty training with my youngest went fairly well ... I went to our local library & checked out books on going potty & a the DVD called "Once Upon a Potty: For Boys" he watched that & something just clicked .... I also made him up a "potty book" construction paper of his color choice & every time he went potty he got a sticker to put in his book :)

Good luck!!!

My mom always said that kids werent really ready to be potty trained until they were 27months old. I found out the hard way, she was right!

Try after you give him something to drink sitting him on the potty 15 minutes later. if no luck after a few minutes, try again every half hour. when he finally DOES go in the potty, make a BIG deal out of it! Get excited and give him lots of hugs and kisses and tell him what a big boy he is!

Another thing, TAKE AWAY DIAPERS AND TRAINING PANTS! completely! this worked for my nephew. He could take sitting in a dirty diaper, but HATED dirty underwear since they have different feels to them when they are wet.

Then again, he might not be ready. You will know he is ready when he can go all night without peeing his pants. When that happens, TAKE him IMMEDIATELY to the potty and see if he can go. Hopefully this helps you! I am not an expert, but I know some things that work!

Potty training is the worst. My son did the same thing. I finally got so tired of trying, so i stopped. When he pooped in his pants i wouldn't change him right away. I would leave him about 5 or 10 mins tops( i didn't want him to get a rash). Then when i changed him i would take him and his pants to the bathroom and show him that the poop goes in the potty. The first cupple of times i let him flush. After that, i wouldn't let him, unless he made "poopie in the potty". I hope this helps you.
