I have a two and half year old and we started potty training before two but she just wasnt ready. We keep trying again every couple of months but we have really been on it the last two months but she doesnt seem interested half the time or wants to be defiant about it being in her toddler years. She went pee pee on the potty a few times and poopy a couple but after that, nothing. Im also a divorced single mom and we share custody of our daughter. My ex is about to have a new baby in his home, his girlfriend is due the week of Thanksgiving. They have also been trying to work with her on the potty training because they dont want two kids in diapers at once. It's also hard to find time to do this bc I work a full time job and sometimes have another part time job for extra money. I work early mornings so I am with her after two in the afternoon so we have time to do things all day. Any advice or tips especially from other single moms on how to get her potty trained soon??? Thanks!

Thanks! Everytime she goes I make a big deal and discovered suckers actually are her favorite thing. She usually tells me when she needs to go so Im going to get her panties for when im home all day and after work to get her used to it. It's just hard when she comes back from Dad's cause they can be so inconsistent, but its getting better I think. Thanks for the advice! Have a blessed day!

Kristi,

I'm a single mom as well my daughter is 23 months old we have been potty training for two weeks. Girl I know it's tough but you have to keep at it. I tried at first when she was 18 months but we stopped and started again now. What I do is set her on the potty every 30 min to hour for 5 min. with a book or a baby doll to keep her entertained. I also reward her with stickers, suckers, dancing, hive fives, just always make a big deal out of it when she goes in the potty. Also keep track of what times she goes so that you can be consistent and let your ex know the times she goes for when she stays over there. People say girls are kind of hard to get trained so be patient. I'm a stay at home mom so it is easier for me to set and watch my daughter or make sure to take her on the clock. When you get home after two wait about an hour or maybe while your showering or whatever you do after work sit her on the potty tell her that's what big girl's do. I even sit on the toilet while my daughter is on the potty sometimes when children see you doing something it is helpful, just don't let it frustrate you. It takes time. Be blessed.
