my son is 20 months old and we've been working with him on potty training for a while now. probably since he was 13 or 14 months. he's making some progress, just extremely slow. he still doesn't let us know when he has to go potty but he does try to use the potty seat if anyone else is trying to go to the bathroom or if someone asks him if he has to go. does it normally take a long time to potty train boys? or any child for that matter? i feel like maybe i'm doing something wrong in trying to teach him. also, he's gone potty it the potty chair twice so far. i would love some input and/or advice

My daughter is 4 and we still have a hard time with her! She gets it she understands but she forgets to go and doesnt seem to care. We have been working on this for almost 3 yrs now...I keep telling myself "dont worry she will get it" now my other daughter is 2 and is just about potty trained by doing the naked potty training. We are working on everyone remembering to go and telling Mommy. I have no clue what my son will do...not looking forward to potty training another one lol.

well normally boys dont train until about 3 years, so your son is a little early. My son just turned 2 and we've only recently started. But be consistent, put him in underwear periodically during the day, and watch for any of his telltale signs that he has to go, like grabbing himself, or dancing around. Getting them trained on pooping on the potty is a little more difficult, but with a lot of patience can be done :) Good luck!
