Just needing some advice from anyone who has been on or is on anti deppressents during pregnancy and if u have had any problems? I am 13 weeks pregnant and have been on medication since my 1st child was 2 and a half.

actually it's ok for some if okayd by a dr. usually they will take you off pills and try to find natural ways to deal as they can be dangerous to the baby. once the baby is 15 weeks then it really won't affect them, but they still reccomend for anxiety and depression stuff you seek counseling instead of the pills and after the baby is born then they will get you back on them again. the best thing to do is talk to the dr.

it depends on the drug and the dose. talk with your doctor to make sure what you are taking is safe. also, if you are really depressed and can't function properly without them, then stay on them. it's important for your baby to be healthy but it's also important for you to stay healthy.

My friend has been on anti-depressants and pregnant. There are only certain ones that you can use though so make sure that you've checked with your doctor that you are on the right kind. My friend had no ill side effects.

I worked for a place that dealt with depression and anxiety.You have to stop the medication i know it sounds hard but you can do it i promise. medication only makes you numb and also co dependent. Plus it can not be doing you baby any good. Think of it this way your only covering up your problems with the medication. If you did not have the meds the depression is still there. I was on anti-depressants when I found out I was pregnant. I decided to come off of them...simply because I was on a low dose and I didn't want my baby to go through withdrawal once he was born. It was challenging during the pregnancy though...and I was told my 4 doctors (2 family doctors, one psychiatrist and a high risk OB) that I could have stayed on them. The moment i left the hospital I started back on them and I was nursing too. When I have my next child I plan to stay on them. (because of the dose). You should definitely check with your doctor because it depends on the type of anti-depressants...some can cause more harm than good. I wish you all the best!

Be sure to check with your doctor about taking ANY medication while pregnant. Most anti depressants are not recommended while pregnant unless absolutely necessary because the side effects are not known specifically as they relate to the fetus.
