problems with formula

my son is 8 weeks old. due to a medical condition i am unable to breast feed as i did with my first son. we have been using formula from day one. at first he would vomit (a lot) after each feeding and my doctor told me not to worry because he was still gaining wait, but it was to hard to watch my son spit up formula from the mouth and nose and then gag or choke. so on the advice of a friend i switched to a reduced lactose formula which helped a lot with the vomiting. however now he is pooping 8-10 times a day (after just about every feeding and then some). and has dipper rash all the time. i dont know what to do. i never realized formula feeding could be so complicated. any one have any advice?

have you tried adding a little cereal to the milk to thicken it, or tried other milks?they have goats milk and those nutritional drinks have been recommended only for some parents i know.

My boys were both born MSPI (Milk and Soy Protein Intolerant). I am a mom who breastfed and had to take out all the milk and soy out of my diet. With my first born my milk supply depleated rapidly because I didn't really know what to eat so I didn't. We used Alimentum at the prescription of the Dr. It's one you can buy off the shelves wherever formula is sold, but in Nebraska it's a minimum of $25.00 for a small can. PRICEY!!! He had a lot of diapers and cried 24/7 until my diet was changed.

There is a soy formula out there that is called Nutramagin (i think i spelled that right) but it is on the expensive side (here in CA it is $25 dollars). But the reason why I bring it up is that it can help with pooping to go down because it is very easy on the stomache. When my daughter was 3 months old she got e collie from someone not washing their hands right and our doctor put her on that because it is easier and with her it helped to heal her disgetive track, it is also used for babies who have a bad reaction to milk based formula and can't handle the other soy or lactose free formula's. We ended up putting her back onto her normal formula and she didn't have a problem after that, you could always try it to get his bm's back to normal then slowly start to try other formulas. If you do end up trying it ask your doctor if they have a free sample to try and see if it works before spending that much money on it. Hope this helps!!! Have you tried the baby paste on him too for a now treatment?

i would talk to your doctor again.... but to me it seems he may be allergic to it.... my daughter was having the same problem... and we had to switch her to lactose free formula and she was better after that.... there are also soy formulas which u could try as well.... poor little guy i hope he feels better soon... hope that helps a little good luck ....
