Question about Motrin

My 6 week old daughter has been having problems with her ears. We have gone to the doctor twice and have another appointment for Tuesday. The question is, is it okay to continue giving her the Motrin in the meantime to help her not hurt so much. During the day she can't sleep and pulls at her ears all the time. I gave her some infant Motrin today and she finally got a good nap. Is this okay?

My doctor told me to only use Tylenol for infants until my daughter is 6 months old, then I can use motrin. She was given her two month shots, and is teething, it seems to help her because she sleeps okay, and isn't so fussy.
