So I'm sitting here at the computer bouncing away on my yoga ball at 3 am wondering when my little baby boy is going to decide to vacate my uterus... Not that I'm complaining I've had a MARVELOUS pregnancy (my first) no morning sickness minimal discomfort, wonderful supportive partner, family, friends and of course you lovely knowledgeable ladies xoxoxo

I am only TWO DAYS away from my due date and in searching for natural ways to induce labor I discovered raspberry tea. I read online that it was safe to drink as long as you were healthy and full term (which I am) but then when I searched to find out how much I should be drinking it said that you should never take any "herbal remedies" without consulting your doctor first because it could result in death of the fetus (horrifying!!!) I think this was more of a broad spectrum warning but needless to say it put the scare into me, also needless to say at 39+ weeks and on high alert for any, and I mean ANY sign of impending labor I am suffering from baby brain to the extreme and forgot to ask my doctor if it was alright (oopsie!). I don't have another appointment until Wednesday and will be 4 days overdue by then (God forbid) so I figured I would ask you to weigh in for me what do you think? Should it be OK for me to have a cup or two of this stuff a day or should I wait until I discuss it with my doctor? Were any of you told not to drink it and why or have any of you used it with positive results?

Thanks moms :)

PS please send me some mental labor dust ♥

The reason they say not to drink raspberry tea to induce labor is because it does cause contractions and in oher countries that don't have abortion clinics the women drink it to abort a very young fetus. But when you are this far along it is fine. I drank it 3 weeks before my due date (oops lol) and I went into labor the next day. My son was perfect and no prblems at all. It also made my son come out very clean without all the extra gunk and mucus. The best way to drink it is go to a health food store if you can and buy it all natural by another tea with it that you enjoy because the raspberry tea doesn't taste that great. Good luck and congrats!

hey. firstly congrats on the bubby on the way :) hope he isnt too late for you, my baby girl was 5 days over - she is 8 months now. i started to drink raspberry leaf tea - from tea bags really really early into the pregnancy as i heard that it was good for the labour - not inducing it but making it a bit more easier for the body etc...i didnt like the taste of it so bought raspberry leaf tea tablets and took those from the 2nd trimester i think it was as they advised not to take it any earlier. and i never had any hiccups with my bubby. i have heard though that going for a walk or eating spicy food. i tried both though and they didnt work for me - what did though was me just giving in and thinking well its going to happen eventually as she has to come out so i just kinda relaxed and put my mind on other things and sure enough she came that night! dont be nervous though, women are meant to reproduce - its so natural and when your bubby finally comes out and you are a family for the first time it is the best feeling in the world :) good luck with everything hope it all goes smoothly for you

hi. i know how u feel. about two weeks before due date i started drink raspberry tea to induce labor 3 times a day. I just wanted my baby to be out lol i also read that eating pineapple helps to induce labor, so had one a day (now even cant look on pineapples) :) moreover i was drinking once a day tea with cloves as it helps soften uterus... whatever i did to induce labour,it didnt work, My midwife did membrane sweep when i was 7 days overdue, this also didnt help. so i was induced by 12days overdue, and next day had my sweety boy :)... what i want to say, whatever u do, ur baby will come when its time. thats mother-nature and we cant do anything.... these teas just will ease ur labour (soften ur cervix),but wont induce.

good luck and patience :)
