We got a Walgreens brand, and the pharmacist said it was only the actual brand name products of Tylenol and Motrin.

thanx for posting this. I have a 4 year old and another one coming in September...I am truly conserned by the time this one gets here I wont be able to give him anything, bc I already cant do it for his big brother with all the dang recalls. Walmart brand so far so good though. Im throwing out everything in my medicine cabinet.

The off-brands have the same active ingredients, but they are NOT part of the recall. Off-brands are produced in different facilities by different companies. Only the medications produced through McNeil's facilities are affected.

well if tylenol has been recalled then why is it still on shelves all across america i love tylenol my dr tells me to use it and i know a number of moms that use and nothing has happened to any of our children so i guess it is a use at your discretion i will continue to use tylenol

I just found a bottle of the Dye Free Multi-Symptom in my cabinet. The bottle over half way gone. Son was really sick a couple weeks back and it helped him get better. Hadn't had any problems. The website does say it is a precautionary measure. Better safe than sorry when it comes to children. I requested my refund.
I don't even buy tylenol/motrin brand names anymore anyways. I always get the equate brand from Walmart because it is a lot cheaper and the same ingrediants.

all of the store brands are safe to use according to the mcneil website. so just buy the off brands. I think everyone should be able to get a refund on the tylenol and motrin! that stuff ISNT cheap!!!

I work at walmart and talked to one of the pharmacist she told me that the Walmart brand Equate is not affected. If someone does not want to use the equate then talk to a pharmacist they will be able to help and decided what other OTC medicine will work for what you or your child have.

i called the 1-888 number on the bottle of my motrin i had for my lil guy as it was on the list and there was over 3 quarters of the bottle still left i had just bought it when he was sick the week before, they are sending me a refund or whayever in the mail. I couldnt justify just throwing it out and not getting anything from the company for the suffering we have to face due to cranky sick babies that now cant take the medicin, and i couldnt get to a store to get anything else for at least a week anyways... so my best advice to you all that still have the bottles call the number and compalin first they will nicely send you stuff in the mail, might as well get something from them when they very well could have put all our babies in the hospital or worse... thank goodness it didnt come down to that but still it very well could have happened. good luck guys just wanted to let you all know what i did so you might do as well.

I just looked to see which Tylenol products are NOT being recalled and the NEW Infants Tylenol Concentrated Drops with the green grape guy on the box isn't one of them on the recall list...it's all the Childrens Tylenol products that are being recalled. I'm glad that I looked to see what's on the recall list.

I hope this helps some of you Mommys with younger Children and have givin them medication in the past few weeks and are now scared that the medicine will hurt their babies.

Sophia, I would take him to the doctors, but I don't think that the issue is because of the medicine. The recall is a precautionary measure based on some ingredients not meeting requirements, not because they are tainted with something. There have been no side effects reported. However, it does sound like your little one is sick, and you should be after those doctors to tell you why, as it's their job to go after the problem until there is a solution. Hope you babe feels better!

This is crazy! :( I had been using the Children's Motrin for over a week in the beginning of April and again for another week towards the end as directed by the hospital. When hospitalized the doctor could not tell me why he was running such high fevers since there was no found ear infection, cold/ flu/ respiratory congestion. Not even his teething was an issue- otherwise there would be constant drooling and/or diahrea. He had nothing but high fevers of 103 degrees. I'm scared :( Not sure if I should seek legal advise??!! What should I do?

Nothing has happened to him but this scares me because I had no clue there was a recall on this stuff !!! What if something would have happened to my son ?!?!!? =( this is definately scary ... I can't even give my baby medicine to keep him comfortable =(

I found this from McNeil Product Recall Information:

McNeil Consumer Healthcare is initiating this voluntary recall because some of these products may not meet required quality standards. This recall is not being undertaken on the basis of adverse medical events. However, as a precautionary measure, parents and caregivers should not administer these products to their children. Some of the products included in the recall may contain a higher concentration of active ingredient than is specified; others may contain inactive ingredients that may not meet internal testing requirements; and others may contain tiny particles. While the potential for serious medical events is remote, the company advises consumers who have purchased these recalled products to discontinue use.

The company is conducting a comprehensive quality assessment across its manufacturing operations and has identified corrective actions that will be implemented before new manufacturing is initiated at the plant where the recalled products were made.

Consumers can contact the company at 1-888-222-6036 and also at www.mcneilproductrecall.com. Parents and caregivers who are not sure about alternative pediatric health treatment options should talk to their doctor or pharmacist and are reminded to never give drug products to infants and children that are not intended for those age groups as this could result in serious harm.

ASHLEY have you ever tryed Target brand, that is what i have almost always used with my son Dakota who is now 5 and it works just fine, and I saw someone wrote a post about it and siad thats what she use's too, and she also said she didnt see it on the list. So try that. Good Luck. ABBY why in the world would you give your child a med all week, I am sorry to say but if it doesnt go away or he/she doesn't get better after 3 days you should be calling your child's dr.. Not understanding at all why your child was on it for so long. Really you need to watch what you give your child, No child should be taken a med over the counter for longer then 3 to 4days, less of course the dr said its okay, but i just do not understand, I hope and pray that your little one is ok and not sick or harmed in anyway Good Luck, you should also try that Target brand someone said it wasnt on the list and i've always used it for over 5yrs now and my son is 100% fine. Good Luck girls. Abby don't think im being mean by saying that i just got done reading in the paper about how a mother gave her 3month old to much ty for a fever and something else cant remember at moment to make the child go to sleep which it was a adlut med and the baby ended up not waken up, crazy. I just hate stuff like that, so sry it wasnt meant to be mean. I just love children and worrie a lot. Hate hearing store's.like the one i just told you. Good Luck thou

Thanks for posting this link, my daughter has been taking both tylenol dye free infant drops and motrin infant drops when needed. Sadly both the bottles I have were on the recall list and are almost gone. I am glad that they are recalling this just in case but it would have been nice if they caught it sooner, say before my daughter had consumed as much as she has in the past couple of months.
None the less, thanks again for the information.
