ooking for opinions on when is it to early or late for someone to have a baby.... I think it is selfish if a person is too old or to young to have a baby. I was 19 when I had my first, not planned but it happened and at least my hubby and I were old enough to get jobs and support our family... for us it worked out but I still would have liked to be older when family. When I hear of high schoolers or even worse middle schoolers having babies it makes me sad, they have no idea what they are giving up ... and how many of those babies are raised by their grandparents??? on the other hand...My aunt had a child at 53 it almost killed them both, not to mention her youngest son is a month younger then her grandbaby... I think her having a baby at that age is selfish she will be 71 at her sons graduation if something doesnt happen before then???

I am sure there is a young or old mom out there that did a great job and my generalizing may be offensive but these are my thoughts and i am just wondering what you think is the right age?

Well, obviously you're too old once you hit menopause! On the other side, you're ready when you're ready. If you don't have plans for school or anything that would take an enormous amount of time after graduating high school and you think you're ready - go for it!



Yes, it's sad how many children of teen parents are raised by the grandparents. But those are the people of the world who didn't pay attention in sex ed and are now suffering the reprecussions of their actions.

I was selfish with my older son. I was nineteen and in no position to provide him any kind of a life. I was living in the moment, thinking only of myself, and not considering the effect on anyone else--including any potential children.



Luckily, I had a good family to support me, and I have managed to work things out for us. I love my son more than I ever imagined possible, and I am a good mom--but at the point that I got pregnant, I was selfish.



Now, that is a personal assessment. It has nothing to do with age, and everything to do with where I was personally at that point. :)

There is no "right age". Its a personal decision. People shouldn't assume things due to maternal age, it should be based on their parenting. I had my 1st at 16 ( 2 months before I turned 17 ) and I now am 22 with 3 wonderful kids, a devoted and hard working fiance and we are currently in the process of buying our first home.

im 17 and pregnant right now...i made a mistake but i dont think it is selfish at all. im a very respectful teenager and i have a great family to support me. Yes girls who try and get pregnant young for attention is selfish but i feel like im going to be a great mom and im up for whatever to make sure my baby has everything it needs. it really depends on the person and situation i wouldnt be too quick to judge..
