Hey everyone! I just joined and just wanted to say hi. I'm 25, mom to a beautiful 16 month old boy. He's my angel - I wasn't supposed to be able to have kids and we're lucky either of us is still here so he's truly a blessing. I'm hoping just to find some friends here - I work from home so I can stay with him and hubby works 12 hour shifts at the textile mill. Needless to say, I get a bit lonely - all my friends vanished on me, some when I got married, the rest when Ethan was born.
Now to the nice story. :)
Ethan has been saying Ma-Ma and Da-da for months now. He started trying to say Daddy and it's still coming out Daeee but with gestures and reaches he makes sure we know who he means.
Yesterday morning I went in his room to get him dressed and take him downstairs for breakfast. He saw me come in and gave me this huge bright smile, held up his little arms, and said "Hey Mommy!"
I nearly turned into a puddle of mush. My husband was saying, "He called you Mommy, he called you Mommy." And Ethan looked pleased and puzzled at our reactions, the cute lil' guy.
It broke my heart (in a good way!) to hear that. People like my grandmother have told me that the first time your little one calls you Mommy just does something to you, like you fully realize how special you are to this little person. You're their world and the most important thing to them, and naming you Mommy just adds to that. She was right. I don't know how to explain it, but I figured other moms would know what I mean. It was just something so special.
I'm going to take that as his birthday present to me since my birthday is this month. :) He's still working on Daddy but he'll get it soon enough. Then his father can be the mushy one.
Nice to meet you all.
