I'm wondering if i should pierce my daughters ears when shes born. i don't even know how to go about it though. do they do it at the hospital or do i take her someplace that specializing in piercing? I had my ears pierced before i can remember and i always liked them. or should i wait a few years and let her choose?

yes! it hurts them less and she will be naturally used to having earrings. I pierced my oldest two daughter's ears when they were born at the hospital and for some reason didn't do it with my third daughter. Today I have pierced her ears 3 times already (she is 12 now) and every time sometihing happens and the holes end up closing and last time she said she doesn't want to go through it anymore so no earrings for the baby of the family!

Yes you can pierce her ears when she is born it much easier when they are smaller instead of waiting for them to get older. An yes you can do it at the hospital.
goodluck.

I got my daughter ears pierced for her baptism at 2.5 months. She is now 15 months and we have had no problem with them. Piercings do completely close up or I would have umpteen holes still in my body.

I would wait until she's older and asks for them. My mother got my ears pierced when I was 8 months old and I ended up with so many infections in them (half of it due to metals that I'm allergic to). Truthfully I wish they hadn't been done. It wasn't my choice and I guess back in the 80's people thought it was cute to have babies with pierced ears. It isn't your body to be putting holes in, not to be rude or anything. I just think it should be her decision what happens with her body.

The holes will never completely close over. They can become infected. Babies can and will remove earrings even ripping them out. There are SO many rites of passage that come with little girls, why not wait until you can make a decision together? ps it surely will hurt even a newborn so if you decide to proceed I hope you will have a medical professional do it.
