What is your opinion on vaccinations?

My baby girl is 4 months old and I have chosen to go with homeopathic vaccinations(all natural energy medicine) and I have not given her any conventional vaccination shots yet.

I didn't plan on giving her any but maybe there are SOME that are more important than others?

Are there any opinions out there on an alternative vaccination schedule?

How about any stories from Mom's who haven't vaccinated at all???

This is such a tough decision!!!!

My mother used to work in a hospital with sick babies- infant and toddlers, after hearing horror stories because of children DIEING in her arms because these children contracted a imminusable sickness because the parents chose not to vaccinate or used homeopathic vaccination, freaks me out so now i know that i will never take that chance... my son will be up to date with all his vaccinations.

Immunization is not just about protecting individuals. It is a public health and safety issue. If your child gets Rubella they probably will be only mildly sick. They will however, be infectious. If a pregnant woman is infected in the first trimester (before she may even know she is pregnant) there is a ONE in FIVE chance that there will be a serious birth defect in her unborn child such as a heart defect or mental retardation.

For many of the diseases which are vaccine preventable - they are rare now because of vaccination in the past. Measles is the leading cause of vaccine preventable death among young children in the world. It is very rare in the United States (if you're not from the US, good luck with not vaccinating), BECAUSE of vaccination.

Personally, I have a background in science, and I trust the CDC's research and their immunization recommendations. I could not live with myself if my child was infected with a preventable disease which could have a deadly complication, or if my child spread the illness to someone even more at risk for a deadly complication.

I know some people who chose not to, and it really is an individual choice. Personally we chose to vaccinate our son on everything, and he's just fine.

My kids 5 and 1 both get there vaccinations since day 1. One year I decided not to get my son the flu shot he was 4, early january the following year, he caught the flu, so both my boys get flu shots every year now. you have to remember the vaccinations are actually a very small dose of the virus or sickness. it helps there bodies to get prepared and fight back what could possibly become something serious. The one thing I have stayed away from was the H1N1. I took my boys to get shots last year and my husband really wanted them to tp get the h1n1.. for what ever reason I felt like something was not right about it. the visit: they both could get the flu shot, the 1 year old was too little (age) to get it and for my 5 yr old the nurse told me "you can thank the government for the paerwork you have to fill out to it". I told her not to give it to him. Now come 2010 there office has a recording stating - their office did not receive the "recalled" h1n1. but just the thought of how many kids did get the vaccine that was recalled. I would say go with what your feeling, and not what everyone else is doing.
