First, it depends on how old the baby is. Everyone and every doctor is going to tell you something different. In my opinion, small amounts of water aren't going to hurt anything. While on the water subject, avoid tap water for mixing formula...it's full of some really harsh chemicals, and is not really fit for drinking by anyone. Fluoride is public drinking water is dangerous...there is plenty of info online. "Nursery" water is sold by the gallon jug @ most grocery stores and places like Babies R Us.

You should not give a baby younger then 6 months (i believe) Water it does nothing good for them it causes ALOT of problems, i have heard seziures and i alsp heard it just acts as a filler and gives them tummy aches the water they get in bottles is always enough and if you breastfeed they still get all the water they need!

Do you mean that your baby is not sleeping at night so you give her water instead of formula? How old is your baby??
If your baby is young water is not recommended. Plus if they are getting enough formula during the day then they do not need to eat at night, it is just a habit. They can safely sleep for 10-12 hours.....depending on their age. When they are infants they need to be fed every so many hours. We were told to just give him the bink if he wakes up and it has worked for us. Last night was 11 hours =) without even giving him the bink during the night.
