i only do it every two days, it can irritate their skin because it's so sensitive at that age

My baby is 9 months, and just recently I have been bathing her once a day followed by moisturizing her skin after the bath. When she was an infant, I usually clean her with a damp warm cloth paying close attention to the much needed areas. Do what feels right for you and the baby. Remember every baby is different and everyone parents differently. Good Luck

Having experience as a nanny and a mom, you dont need to start bathing your child every night until they reach about 4 years. Every other night is fine.

umm i bathed my kids every night, they didnt have any problems, but i was watching the doctors the other day and they had said infants should only get full baths no more than twice a wk. , just make sure you wipe them down everynight. Because all that water takes off their natural lubrication found on their skin and can cause many problems.

I bathe my kids every other night! I also heard that it takes away the oils and can dry your baby out. If your baby is not eatn ne actual foods then I wouldn't stress to much it's not like they can really get dirty... A lil wipping should do just fine!

Mine as infants had a bath everynight. They are now toddlers and get baths every night as well, they may take one during the day. They love getting baths I guess that is what giving them baths every night during infancy caused, and I love it that way, makes it easier for me lol

My son is almost 2 and a half and he has a bath 1-2 times a day because he has eczema so his dr. has suggested he bath more and then have lotion applied to his entire body to seal in the moisture. I used to think the more a child got bathed the dryer the skin but that just isn't the case. Hope this helps :)

I'm sure everybody's situation is different. My baby is home all day every day and it's winter, so we never go outside to play or anything, so he's not getting really dirty. I probably still would give him a bath every night (just because he loves it so much), but I can't because he has eczema and the dr told me it was because I was bathing him too much and should only bathe him every 3 days, because of his condition. I've tried every lotion, but Eucerin cream is the only thing that helps for his skin and I have to put it on him in the morning and at night. He still has eczema breakouts, but some months are worse than others. I hear that eczema clears up the older they get. I thought it was getting better, but then winter came and here in Utah the air is sooooo dry, so he's gotten bad again. :( So yeah... Everybody's situation is different. You don't have to bathe them EVERY night, but it's probably good to bathe them every other night, unless your situation won't allow you to do so. I still wash him down with wipies or a wash cloth every day, but he just can't get in the bath every day. I just can't believe there's so much controversy over this... lol... it makes me laugh.

I bath my son 1-2 a week and top and tail him with a sponge everyday (obviously depending on how much sick/poo has been smeared around. I did the same with my 4 yr old and her skin is so good. She never got dry skin or cradle cap and neither has my son!

no because you don't want to wash away all their skin oils that makes their skin soft. Babies don't get that dirty except for poop but that can be cleaned up with wipes. If anything just wash them with a wet (but warm) baby washcloth

I'm surprised at how less frequent other moms actually clean their children cuz personally I feel that it's basic hygiene. We need to clean of dead cells and sweat everyday cuz bacteris inhibits and spreads thus leading to other problems. If you guys are so worried about losing all the natural oils, maybe you should avoid having baths at all and start taking short showers. Soaps are really important too i feel, avoid Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Cuz long baths washes away all the skin's natural oils and moisture. So I give my kids, 2 and 4 a shower every morning and evening. I make it a habit to moisturize them after every shower before getting dressed. Their skin hasn't dried out. You might wanna try Mustela Organic Baby series...

I think it is all about how old your baby is and what's going on on any particular day. When my boys were very little (weeks to 2mo old) i would just wipe them down with wash clothes, how often would be determined on how active we were that day and the weather (hot or cool).

Now that my boys are older they bath every day once before bed time( i still lotion them up)...i will wipe them done during the day sometimes too if we have been very active!

I try to bath my 9 month old everyday as she is eating much more solids and has more bowel movements. When she is eating she plays with her food it gets in her hair and all over her face. I find by the end of the day and with the combination of theses two things I mentioned above, she needs a bath!!!!

My son is almost 4 months old and he gets a bath every other night unless for some reason he spits up a lot on a no bath day. I'm not sure that it would hurt to do it everyday but your baby's skin might need more lotion cause it might dry out faster.

I've been told by my doctor to bath my baby every night and stick to a bath time as it helps babies get into a routine. From 5 weeks, my son knew after his bath at 6pm, he gets fed and put to bed. He'd only wake up 7 the next morning.

no you are not supposed to give your baby a bath every night. it dries out their skin to much. give them a bath every other night and if they need to be cleanned the night you arent giving them a bath wipe them down (where they need to be cleanned) with a baby wipe.

My baby girl (4mths) and big boy (5yrs) have had bathes every day of there lives since they were born! Having a diaper on all day, milk spilling from mouth into crevaces and spew, babies sweat, suck on there fingers, touch things, i know i would want a bath.So i bath my kids every night, my duaghter loves it and it tires her out before bed, then she has a bottle and bed about 15 mins later. She sleeps from 8 til 5-6 every night. My son goes to school. He loves his bath. The sking gets dried out cos of the soap. Tell me how is a natural OIL goingf to come of babyies body if your just putting them in plain water. A bath freshens them up and relaxes them for bed. Man by the end of the day i would love to have the energy to shower or bath myself preparing me before bed but mine is in the morning!!!

it all depends, during winter i do not because their skin gets too dry. i think it all depends on activity and food etc i mean if they are messy they are getting a bath but she can go a day or two with out espceially if they are really small because they arent doin anything to get very messy

I think it depends on your baby's skin type. My daughter has dry skin, so I bathe her 2-3 times per week during the dry winter months, and in the summer I bathe her more often when the humidity is higher. I do try and bathe her during the day in the winter when the house is a little warmer from the sun.

here in Denmark most people bath their infants 2 maybe 3 times a week. infants don´t sweat or get dirty the same way bigger children or adults do.. my oldest daughter was bath that way until she was about a year, then she started in daycare and needed more often.

Not usually, up until our daughter was a year old we only gave her a bath every other night!!!!! It can really dry out their skin, especially in the winter!!!!! It does depend on the age, newborns definitely should not get one every day!!!!

I have bathed all 3 of my kids everyday since they have been born, i dont think you have to bath babies every night I did it purely because it relaxed them and its nice to get into a routine my youngest is nearly 10 months and because she has a bath after her dinner when she's finished she asks for her bath as its part of her daily routine, I find routine easier as it makes kids feel safe and secure and it makes my life easier as my husband works nights so dealing with the children is left to me through out the week, with a routine I know where i stand, but bathing every night i think is a personal choice do what you feel best with

I only give my daughter a bath a few nights a week. I noticed her skin got alot more dry when i was giving her a bath every night. I wash her off with a warm cloth before bed, and change her clothes and rub lotion on her feet, on the nights she doesn't have a bath. She LOVES her bath though.

Baby lotions don't provide enough moisture for my little guy, so his pediatrician recommended Eucerin Cream. It does help and I put it on him twice a day, but he still has a rash. I've tried all different types of soaps, but nothing works. So all I'm left with is to take his pediatrician's advice and only wash the dirty areas every day and then give him in the bath every 3 to 4 days. I know it sounds bad, but its all I can do to help my baby's rash and keep him from itching so much.

I wish I could bathe my 15 month every night, but my baby has eczema really bad and my doctor suggested that I bathe him only every 3 to 4 days. I still wash him down and I put Eucerin cream on him in the morning and at night, but he still to this day has eczema breakouts. It's so sad because he's constantly itching it. I think every baby is different and each climate is different, so you just have to make a decision on what is best for your baby.

My 3 months old doesn't really like baths but that because I've taken her in the shower with me since she was about three weeks. We have a shower every night because where we live is really hot and humid. I find now that she knows it as part of her bed time routine, we shower then she gets a massage with lotion which is also playtime then its feeding and bed. It really depends on your baby and what works for you

When my daughter was under 1 I gave her a bath almost every day. If I didn't give her a bath I would take a rag and wipe her down like a sponge bath. It is not necessary to bath your baby every day, it did cause her to get dry skin. Now I give her one every day and put lotion on her and she is fine. Sometimes i don't give her one and that's ok too. i give her one at least every other day though. She's almost 2 and gets in to a lot of things.

I was told by our nurse that babies only need to be bathed 2-3 times a week and we did that in the beginning, about every other day. But my daughter really enjoyed bathtime and it helps relax her for bed so by the time she was 2 months we started doing it every night. She has eczema and very sensitive skin, but bathing every night doesn't seem to bother her skin. We just use Aveno baby wash, her baby lotion and keep the baths short.

In my health care aide course I learned that the elderly and babis do not need to bath everyday since they don't do too much activity. Too much bathing can cause there skin to become very dry. 1 - 2 times a week is enough, depending on the situation sometimes they need more frequent baths. For example if they poop all the way up their back lol!
