Hi everyone! I just wanted to hear everyone's opinions/stories on teaching sign language to babies/toddlers. I've taught my daughter (who's 3 1/2) sign language since she was a year and a half. She knows over 500 signs, and communicates with it almost as a second language. My son is 18 months old and also knows sign language and communicates with it. They both speak very well in addition to the signs. I've taught them using a DVD I found at my library called Signing Time. They both really love all the colors and music. I would love to hear from you all!

I think that it is so cool you taught your kids how to sign! I say that because I have no idea how to. It is hard because my cousin married a guys who is def and that is how he communicates. I can understand a lil bit of what he says but other than that my cousin has to help me. It is really frustrating. I really want to learn. And I also think that in schools when they teach languages that sign language should be one of them.
