Silly Question but Sales Girl Got To Me

It might look tacky in her house but if you like something different about each one then you should get them otherwise you just might not be happy with what you do get. I actually had a sales lady get to me too after my baby was born. Different scenario,  it's a store called please mum. The lady was showing me all these nice clothes that were 1/2 off and she was so good, she was like "oh and here's what every lil gurl needs, a shirt that says Daddy's gurl and another one for mom ( that said something else, can't remember)." We bought 2 outfits that were 1/2 off for 136$ I went up to Sears rite after and got about 10-15 outfits for 140$. I had to go back and return the outfits so I could get her more at Sears. I mean they were nice but they were just as nice up at Sears for less. So I guess just don't let em get to you.

I don't think it matters. Mine all matched but that's just me. When it came time to get rid of it all it didn't help anyway. I figured someone would want the set too. But as it turned out people only bought what they wanted. Me personaly I would have told the lady to mind her own business. She was tacky and out of line to say something like that. It's not her place or her business! She was just down right RUDE!!!

My pregnancy with my twins was unexpected so I wasn't financially ready.  All my stuff came from tag sales and friends who had children so none of my shit matched either.  It bothered me a little at first because I'm a bit of a perfectionist, but when they arrived I was so busy with taking care of them I found that I didn't have another thought about it....I mean, who cares really?  As long as you have what you need and it's up to safety standards, I think you'll find that it's not going to really matter.  Screw the sales girl.

How rude!  most of my stuff was hand me downs and NONE of it matches, i bought an evenflow circus stroller / carrier, my brother gave me a rainforest jumper my playpen is like 14 years old as long as you like it and it serves its purpose good job lol!! best of luck!!!

I don't think it really matters.  I have a set of twins and we have two different play yards for them they each have a different high chair and two different play mats. Their swings and bouncers are the same but that's just because we liked the design of the bouncers that we got during the baby shower.  It's all about what you like. The baby or babies will be too young and wont really care the design anyways just so long as they can use it.

I don't think it's tacky at all. We have a Graco Pack 'n' play, an Evenflo high chair, a Safety First car seat... Seriously, who goes over to someones house and notices that their baby gear doesn't all match? Don't worry about the sales person - she probably works on commission.

I don't think it's tacky at all. I bought a green plaid pack n play to compliment my livingroom, a gray/blue stroller that I liked, a swing I thought was pretty cause it projected stars (doesn't match pack and play at all), and a rainforest bouncer to entertain the baby. They're all different. Babies R Us can be pretty pushy sometimes, and probably 2/3 of the stuff they have on their "must register for" list you don't need.

No offense to those who like matching, but I find it tacky and unoriginal if the do match!  Are you really going to walk down the street with your buggy and your playpen?  Really now, why would that matter.  Find a pattern and style that you like with the features that you like.  Who cares if it matches!?

Not all of my stuff matched. We had a Graco green/brown plaid travel system, the Noah's Ark pack-n-play, the Winnie-the-Pooh swing, and a hand me down under the sea bouncer from my sister. Tell that girl she is tacky and needs to learn how to do her job better (i.e. keep her mouth shut about the things other people want. She gets paid to ring you up, not give you her opinion!)

Sounds like your sales girl hasn't got children herself. I didn't know that those kind of items were supposed to be matching. When I had my son we brought everything from all sorts of shops and got items which were both practical, realistically priced and nice to look at. They don't match but I don't see how relevant it is to raising a child if the carseat, highchair and cot don't match?!?!
Even if you had all the money in the world I don't imagine that you would have come up with a full matching set anyway- not every brand does every item and regardless of price some are just better than others and will suit different families better.
I would have complained, you sound like you are doing just fine.
And as for matching- I learnt that lesson as a child decorating the christmas tree one year and though how perfect it would be to be all matching and tastefully decorated, and it was perfectly DULL and never done like that ever again.

I dont think it matters I didnt have matching stuff I just had all different kinds of things I liked. As a sales person she should not say anything like that to a customer.

It doesn't matter. All that matters is that you pick out what you like. None of the things I got for my daughter were matching anything but I like them all. It's better to like a miss-matched selection than to go with a complete set you don't like just so other people don't think you're tacky. After all you are the one who has to look at it all day, not them.

i agree with what everyone has said. some people can be sooo rude and should really keep their comments to themselves. does the baby know that what your putting them in doesnt match??..not at all..do they even care?..not at all....as long as their comfy and happy..who cares if you have a polka dotted swing with a striped bouncer chair!....it's what you like and when it comes down to it..that's all that matters!..i know how you feel though because that would have offended me too (i also am pregnant so that may be why!..lol)...dont worry about it though....some ppl can be so ignorant!!...

Do what YOU want. It will be in YOUR home for YOUR baby. I got a few matching things, but I have a lot of mismatch stuff too. Trust me, noone cares what your stuff looks like, they are there to see your beautiful baby. Sales girl should shut her mouth! She is just trying to make a sale.

Does it really matter whether it matches? as you said, they are not kept in the same area's of the house, and even if they were - your friends and family are not going to come in and say "oh they look terrible, why didnt you get them all to match" None of the stuff i bought for my baby girl matches, for the same reasons as you - they were either too expensive, wernt a great design or i just didnt like them. Your baby is the most important thing, so enjoy the new arrival and forget about the nasty sales girl, after all she was probably just trying to make a sale...

ok if the play pen's in the bedroom, the stoller and car seat are in the hall, the swing is in the livingroom and the highchair's in the kitchen why do they need to match? If it was say doing a bedroom and u put say cars, tonka, princess, dora and winney the pooh all in the same room it would be a bit over whelming but even if u did it's ur choice. Plus don't listen to sales people because that's what they are SALES PEOPLE, they don't care about what's best for you they care about getting a sale...

It's not tacky... i mean i wanted everything to match when i was registrying but they didnt have everything in classic pooh (my theme) and my mother in law pointed out.. who is going to see everything together anyway!? so it doesnt matter!! on thing is in the car one thing is in the room one in the living room.. i mean who cares as long as it is works for you! :)

I think it is just fine...i only have a couple peices that match...i loved certain things but some items in that design didnt work for me so i got what worked! the sales lady is nuts!

Is this sales girl gonna be living in your home... NO.  If you like the designs you picked then good for you.  You have to live with them not her and non of my stuff matches either.  I too went for more price efficient items then for matchy matchy.

you shoulda flipped her off and said she was shallow. its nice to have it all match but you dont have too. i had the same problem but ya know what if your happy then thats all that matters not what anyone else thinks and oyur baby isnt going to know a difference trust me! im a first time mom and i understand its hard but itll all come to you as you go so try not to stress the lil things and remember you are the only one that knows whats best for you baby no one else.good luck

I absolutely agree with you; she was tacky for suggesting it! 

You want products that YOU feel are suitable for you and your baby and if that means you have a graco stroller, a cosco carseat and a safety first playpen in different patterns and colours then so be it.  Plus, you'll want to choose things that you will be able to use for later years if you choose to have more children.

Don't listen to the salesperson! I think that was rude of her to say that. You should choose what you like and what you think you will need and use. If you're happy, that's all that matters. The salesperson doesn't have to use or even look at your stuff, so why should she care anyway. rather than criticize you, she should have pointed out the good things about what you chose, or maybe recommended some popular items. if she was kind and helpful, maybe she would have made a better sale!

None of my stuff matches. Some of it is even boy stuff and I only have a baby girl. Most of my things are hand-me-downs from relatives. Sure in the magazines they show perfect nurserys with coordinating EVERYTHING. But in real life it isn't usually like that. Sure if I ad the money I would love a picture-perfect nursery. But I'm not rich and I'm just glad to have been given the things that I have

I would have told the cashier it was none of her business and I wouldve asked for her supervisor.. That is very unprofessional and rude for someone to make comments like that! I agree that it doesnt matter if it all matches, mine won't. The economy is bad and therefore we need to be more careful with our money, anyways. I definately think it was wrong of the salesperson to make that comment. If I were you I would let her supervisor know about that.

The sales girl needs to find a new job! The only thing that really matters is that what you have is safe and practical. The only things I had that matched was the stroller and carseat, because they came together. Like someone else said, pretty soon it'll all be covered in baby goo anyways! And really if you think about it...how often will you have the stroller, carseat, playpen, swing, bouncer, highchair etc all in one room??? Find things that you like, matching or not, and save the extra money for diapers, because we all know you're going to need a ton of those!!!! Good luck!

I can't believe she said that to you! My mom bought us the Graco Jungle theme car seat, so we ended up getting everything in that set (stroller, pack-n-play, swing). Except the high chair b/c a few months later when we went to get the high chair they had changed the Jungle theme. So we got a cute pink and brown one. Overall, it doesn't matter if it matches or not. Its your personal taste. If you want your nursery to have an overall theme, it might be nice to match. But if thats not what you're going for, then don't worry. Oh, we also liked the jungle theme b/c it can go for boy or girl.

Ugh, lets look at it this way, it's great to have super cute things and all for your baby, but are they really going to enjoy it? I did the whole matchy matchy thing with my first born and learned really quickly that the baby does not care what it's laying or what color it's blankets are, they'll all be covered in miscellaneous baby goo eventually. Your child will have a hard time deciphering anything farther than a few inches from it's face for the first couple weeks, and after that will only really be drawn to stark differences in colors and textures. Let's face it, most baby stuff is more built towards the mom's tastes, not the child's. The baby would much rather be in a onesie curled up in your bed with you than in a $500 bouncer. You're better off maybe choosing a color you like and sticking with that then buying sets of stuff. It'll save you money and you won't feel terrible if your baby's favorite (and most expensive) blanket is permanently stained. Just my two cents.

HA! Oye veh that sales person I think really just wanted you to register or to get a bigger commission out of you or something by giving you extra pressure.
I think all Moms know what is best for their set of circumstances - money being one of them, but also comfort for you and the baby and a host of other considerations go into picking out specific baby gear and that goes all the way from clothes as to which stroller you will pick out. Not that I'm an expert, but from my limited experience and what I've heard from other Moms, it pays kind of to not limit yourself to one brand anyways. Be strong in doing it your way! :)

i really didnt think it mattered. my son is now 2 and where is all this stuff we spent so much money on its in the shed the pusher cot change table car seat baby bouncer. it didnt match but it didnt matter half the time it is covered up with baby blankets anyway so noone can tell. i think the sales girl was just trying to get a sale.

I dont think its tacky.. i have a prego stroller a evenflo carseat and a graco playpen .. so meh is what i say... and really you are just offended as personally you think she was calling you tacky.. let it roll off your back! Get the things you like or in your opinion are the best.. Remember dont sweat the small stuff.. cause its all small stuff!
