Stretch marks are caused by hormones.
Only one randomized controlled study has been published which claimed to test whether oils or creams prevent the development of stretchmarks. This study found a daily application of a cream containing Gotu Kola extract, vitamin E, and collagen hydrolysates was associated with fewer stretch marks during pregnancy.[7][8] Another study, though lacking a placebo control, examined a cream (Verum) containing vitamin E, panthenol, hyaluronic acid, elastin and menthol. It was associated with fewer stretch marks during pregnancy versus no treatment.[9]
Cocoa butter does not work. The only way to remove them is by laser. Some people suggest chemical peels, but being as the marks are deep under, logically, chemical peels make no sense.

Stay HYDRATEd (water!), eat healthy and keep rubbing on the cream. I was scared shitless when I heard that stretch marks were genetic because my mother is full of them. She calls them "jessica marks" (I am Jessica, btw!) However I got lucky DURING my pregnancy. I dont have any on my stomach but when my breastmilk came in my breasts got HUGE and my breast have stretch marks. I do have to say it gets better though after time. my son is one now (still nursing) and the marks are much less noticable than they were initially. I was afraid they would look like that forever! One thing I used while prego was Burts Bees Mama bee oil. I used a little bit when I took baths (which I did a lot) and it kept my skin really supple. Dont worry you are going to be getting the best gift of you life at the end of the pregnancy just like I am giving my son the best milk around. The marks are all worth it in the end! and your man will love you no matter what, mine does :)

There is nothing that will go away though some creams may dull them down. I have also heard of tanning. So you could try a tanning cream to help dull and hide them. But I don't think there is anything you can do to get rid of them.

After I gave birth to my daughter, I got stretch marks. I was stretch mark free before I got pregnant. I've been to numerous dermatologists and there are creams to help minimize the looks of them. Try Mederma Stretch Mark Therapy, it did help me. But unfortunately, you can't get RID of them because it's your skin stretching, and once something stretches, it can't go back to it's regular figure. There are laser treatments, I've never had it done to me before, but I've seen them being done, and it does look like you don't have any (after many treatments).

I used a mixture of bio oil and palmers and that helped, but I still got some. I have heard the new mederma stretch marks cream works really well, but it is for stretch marks you already have to get rid of them.
You can't really avoid stretch marks because they are genetic, but if you stay really hydrated it can help fend them off and also don't scratch them it can make it worse.

As far as I know you don't get rid of them. I used straight vitamin e oil and only have a few after 4 kids.
