My husband and I are flying to Maine to visit family this summer. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for making it a more enjoyable trip. I have never been on a plane, and I am very afraid to fly but more afraid of our family driving everyone else on the plane crazy!! We will have our 2 boys with us, they will be 6 months and 16 months at that time. Any suggestions on what to pack, what to expect, or travel tips??

thanks for your help. it just seems like there is so much to think of and prepare for.  i think the lil one will do pretty well but our oldest doesnt sit still!!  i want to pack as little as possible but im afraid to not have everything we need.  avoiding extra costs while were traveling would be nice too.

I flew with my son when he was 5 months and most planes nowadays have satellite tv in the headrests! During takeoff you have to hold them facing you on your lap and support their head but do make sure to have a soother! It keeps their ears from plugging up when the pressure changes. My son fell asleep before we were even fully in the air! Also if you can....request seats at the front of the plane (for yourself) as you dont feel the turbulence as much. I do not fly well. Everytime I got on a plane before I had my son I would end up violently ill. Not this time. I was too concerned with him and how he was doing to even notice! You will be fine!!!! Take headphones with you for the tv otherwise they should have them for sale. The gate check advice is the best advice ever!!!!! Most airlines only let you take 2 of these 3 items    stroller carseat and playpen so check onto that before you go. Otherwise you will be charged for an extra piece of luggage.

Hi there! Check the guideline with the airline you are traveling with. they have tip and info on what not to bring and such. Make sure you gate check your stroller. You can as the attendant if you can board early so you can get your kid settle into the seat before other passenger get on. It will be easy on you and less stressful on the kid. If your child is on formula...they will allow you to bring it on board. You can ask for some water for the formula. Bring something for them to snack on like cheerios, gerber puff cereals or apple sauce. If the people at the scanner ask just tell them they are for your kids. For your 6 mos old one, make sure he is sucking on something like a pacifier when the plane take off and landing. It will help with the ear. some toys or coloring for your 16 mos old for distraction but be prepare tho...16 mos old usually dont like to be confine in one place for long. I know...got a 22 mos old and traveling with her was tiring. she didn't like to be in one place. My advice just plan ahead before you go to the airport, arrive a little bit early before boarding so you can give yourself some time to check in, go through the scanner, get the stroller gate check. I went through all the traveling bit with my lil one. If you have any more question feel free to ask me.
