Both of my children got the swine flu. It is not something that anyone let alone little kids should have to go thru. My son got it first and then my daughter. My son is two so it was hard for him to communicate to us what he felt and what was going on but since my daughter was almost 4 she told us excatly what she felt and everything. The first sign in a high temp like over 100.00 and it is very hard to get down and to keep it down. My son stoped eating and drinking so he got dehydrated really quick and had to go to the er to get an IV. Our doctor gave us Tamiflu to give to them, Also if a child has came in really close contact with the virus such as my step son was always around that give them tamiflu to just a difference dosage and stuff to prevent them for getting H1N1. The runny nose and bad cough can be a sign to my son got the symptoms really bad because we caught it to late and my daughter we new what was going on so we caught it early.Pay very close attention to him and write a log regarding everything like what he eat when he goes pee and poop and his symptoms and things like that. And contact your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Dont let it go to long.

they should do a swab at the dr, they CANNOT do a swine flu test but with a swab they can tell you which flu it is, flu A is H1N1, and it is the only flu type A out there currently that is known

Did he have a positive H1N1 swab, because some pediatricians are just treating children like they have it because of their symptoms when they only have the reg. flu. You should ask her. The doctor i work for said that the Tamiflu doesnt help for the reg flu only for the H1N1. and with the pediatricians treated every child like they have the H1N1 is not good- that is probably why there is a shortage of the med. My advice would to vaccinate your child with the flu vac, if your child has no lung problems such as asthma they are recommending the flu mist. That is what my children received. When the H1N1 vaccine becomes available here in San Antonio they will be getting that one too. Make sure she is doing proper hand washing and cleaning of the toys. Has for his symptoms I would call his pediatrician ask them.

my son had swine flu not too long ago, the fever will remain constant if he were to have it. the dr's can only do something if its caught within the first 48 hours, if thats the case he'd be prescribed tamiflu. the daycare should remain fine if the child has been kept out of it until atleast 24 hours of the fever being broke w/o being given medication to bring it down!

you can look up the symptoms of swine flu online, from what i understand it appears similar to the regular flu. i have heard from several nurses that h1n1 is no more fatal or contagious than the regular flu, so unless her son is still at the daycare, all you can really do is ask her to wear a mask and keep your own son well hydrated. you can look into getting the h1n1 vaccine when it is available and asking her if she plans on getting it as well. not trying to downplay your worry, my son is in daycare also, but it is the season to be sick so there is only so much we can do...
