Switching from breastmilk to formula. How did your baby take it?

I am leaving to take a vacation in Hawaii and leaving my then 8 month old and toddler with my MIL. I don't want to be pumping every two hours while I am out there so sadly I am going to switch to formula. I have about 6 weeks to get it right. What did you do to switch and how did it work out for you and your baby?

i started out by replacing 2 oz at a time with formula....for ex. if your baby drinks equal to an 8 oz bottle of breastmilk...only pump 6 oz and put 2 oz of formula in with it...then slowly add more and more until all u have is formula...if you dont pump...you could try to work in more and more bottles of formula a day until the baby is completely on formula

when we needed to introduce the formula we did so slowly to make sure our son would take it. I would suggest giving a small amount (a few oz) to your child soon to see how they react. Some babies will take either with no issues (our son was like that), and others will flat out refuse it.

If your baby doesn't take it that well, some have tried mixing some pumped milk with formula (mix with watter first if it's powdered), and slowly increase how much formula is in the mixture.
