Tips for toilet training

My son is 2 1/2 and i am having trouble toilet training him. If anyone has any suggestions on what i could do please help.

I have a 4 year old(potty trained) little boy. Boys are hardest. He will do it in his own time. I tried everything i could think of. Finally i told him if he would use the potty i would take him to the store and he could pick out whatever kind of underwear he wanted. (for this to work they have to know underwear comes in all sorts of cool little boy characters.) The next morning he peed in the potty and said can we go to the store now? potty trained since. He potty trained at three.

My son is only 12 weeks old and not quite ready for toilet training yet. However, a friend of mine has a 5 year old that she toilet trained at 2 years. She made up a chart and everytime he did a wee in the toilet he got 1 star sticker and when he did a poo he got two stickers. When he was finished filling the chart with stickers, she took him to kmart and let him pick a toy and by then was completely toilet trained. I think it was the reward after going to the toilet and then the big reward at the end.
