My little ones are 26 months apart and I never bought one. I bought a baby carrier and carried the baby while I pushed the toddler. I never wished that I had a double stroller.

if you do decide to get another one I suggest a sit and stand double stroller. I still use it with my 4 year old and 1 1/2 year old. It seems to come in handy when you are out like at the mall and stuff. But I would keep your other just for small errands for the baby. Hope this helps

I got a second hand double stroller for $50 off a friend. Stuff buying an $800 new one just to use it a few times when your other kid can practically walk everywhere.

Just get a single stroller with a ride-along on the back. Double strollers are so heavy and combersome!

I carried my newborn in either my sling or Ergo baby carrier and by the time I felt I needed a stroller (around a year), my 3 year old was close enough to 4 to be happier walking.

I love having my sit and stand. I never know when both or one of my kids are going to be sleeping. If my 5 year old can have the option of sitting or standing. I use it everyday to take my 5 year old to school. I always have my 18 month old in the front. If my daughter doesn't want to ride she can at least put her backpack and lunchbox in it. I also love it for the zoo when both kids are tired. Also I can put a small cooler in it so we have snacks and cold water where ever we go. I love love love my sit and stand deluxe by baby trend

I'm not a mom of 2 yet but trying and I already have my eye on the Graco Duo Glider! My friend has one and the back seat lies completely flat so that you could put a baby in there to sleep and the older child can get in and out of the front seat without disturbing them. They also both have a canopy and tray for snacks. I also like that is will work with my car seat carrier. My son is 17 months now and will be able to walk when I run errands but I like the idea of a double stroller for longer trips like to the zoo so he can get in when he gets tired. Good luck!

I have a 2.5 year old and a 6 month old. I have the Sit N Stand Deluxe. It is AMAZING. It fits any kind of car seat, and then you can have the 2 year old sit, or take the chair out and they can stand while you push. It's THE BEST, and my 2 year old loves it. It's nice because he doesn't always want to walk, or gets tired when we're out, so he can rest in the stroller with the baby. :-D Hope that helps!

I'm not a second time mom but I can tell you that I've done my researc on strollers. I love love love my city select baby jogger. It allows you to have the children on one stroller, not side by side but vertically. It allows you to get around easily through store doors and also there's diff configs to it where the kids can face you, face each other or face outward. Check it out on youtube.com...that's how I got convinced. :)

I was in the exact same situation as you. My son was almost 3 by the time my daughter was born. I used the double stroller (phil & teds) for the first 3-6 months, but then my son wasn't interested in sitting in the stroller. The double stroller was so awkward that I hated using it. I avoid it as much as possible. Now I stick to my umbrella stroller, which works out just fine. I sometimes wonder about the sit and stand stroller for longer walking trips, but I spent so much money on the first double stroller, I don't want to spend anymore. I bet you could get away with your current stroller for now, but I guess it depends on how much walking you plan to do.

My kids are similar years apart. I bought one new and have to say it was a waste of money. My 2 1/2 year old a the time liked to walk more than ride. They were never in the stroller at the same time so I ended up pushing the awkward thng and carrrying one. I suggest finding a used one if u think you'll need it in the beginning, or looking into maybe a sit and stand that is smaller where your oldest can just sit on the small seat. We are jobbers in this family and if I would have thought ahead I probably would have just invested in a Phil and Ted that is small but still has two seats considering the amount of money we've spent on strollers.

Depends on whether you older child likes to ride. My son will be 2.5 when his little sister arrives in November and he has never been a fan of the stroller, but I think we may look for a good used sit n stand stroller. I saw one in a store that can convert from a double to a sit n stand but I think its newer so I don't know if I can find one used but that might be a good way to go. I took my son to the store and let him sit in different strollers but he acted like they are all so much fun and I know he doesn't really feel that way lol.

My eldest 2 dd's are 16 months apart so i've had a few different double pushchairs. i've found the best to be a maclaren side by side stroller as it is light and you can easily fold it using one hand. Im currently 3months pregnant with number 4 and my 3rd child will be 19 months when baby arrives so will def be needing a double again.

I have a 4.5 yo, a 3.5 yo and a 2yo. and i probably would have left one of my boys on the side of the road had i not had a double sit & stand (im just kidding by the way lol) but it was the best $200 i spent when i was having baby #3 and we used it for over a year. Most kids i know are good for about 20 minutes walking. A good question to ask yourself and be honest ... how often and how long does she walk now?? i know my 4.5 yo doesn't walk for very long unless it's stop and go (zoo or mall etc). definatly check out second hand stores.

We have the Graco Quattro as well (we got it on clearance - I wasn't about to pay an extra $100 for the latest color pattern that wasn't going to match the infant carrier anyway). We don't use it for small walks around the block, but for larger trips it has been pretty useful. The only problem we have is the baby wants to pull the oldest's hair, and it is really easy to do if he sits behind him.

I say yes. I got a double stroller when I had baby 2 and I am so glad I did. at 2 and 4 it came in so helpful on days out at the zoo or any other activities like the mall and stuff. Even my 4 yr old would get in and ride when she is tired. I think everyone should have double strollers. I got the one that has the frong and back seats. I would put the baby carrier in the back and she would sit in the front. Mine came as a set for twins. It had two carriers and the double stroller. I took a carrier for my car and we had a the second carrier on standby if we needed it and it had two bases. I LOVE IT and still use it!!!!! 3 and 4 yrs still like to ride too!!!

Hope it helps. PS I got mine off Craigs list for 75 bucks in almost brand new conditons. The carriers were brand new and the stroller was practically new. I say look for somethign used so you can spend more money on other baby things. Congrats its an exciting time!!

Try looking into a Monkey Board http://www.monkeyboard.co.nz/ They are the best thing. It allows you child the freedom to walk or bike with you but if they get tired they can jump on it. I love it as it keeps them safe and allows for awesome conversations! Heaps cheaper then a new buggy.

im 3 weeks away from a section with my 2nd (1st is 2 and a half). We've not bought a double as they are hefty and to be honest, my eldest is quite good at walking.

She still has her own stroller tho incase we all have to go out and she gets tired in which case her daddy can push 1 and I'll push the other :D xx

I have a 4 year old boy, 2 /2 year old girl, and 3 month old boy, and I've always just used 1 stroller. I taught my older ones to walk (which they actually prefer) and to stay near me, and they do really well. In the even that I need a second stroller, I always just would use an umbrella and my hubby would push one. If I'm by myself, then I just have the older ones walk. I thought about buying the Graco Sit N Stand but we decided to wait until we thought we really needed it, and we haven't thus far! Good luck!

Totally up to you and your 2 year old. I have my little man who will be 3 in September. In my experience, my children have been out of the stroller by 3! So I would say it would be a waste to get a double... But if you think she wont mind being in a stroller for awhile then it sure makes shopping trips easier.... Good luck! You could always wait until baby comes and see how it goes with a single....

I would totally go with the double stroller. I had twins, so obviously I needed the double stroller but I am now looking at getting a triple stroller. The twins are 4 years old and my daughter 2 years old but we go out so much. Mostly that they take turns walking and riding but sometimes they all get tired and Id rather them all have somewhere to sit and rest.

Yes a new stroller is a must! I have a 2 year old and 7 month old. I have the Phil and teds sport stroller with a doubles kit and an add on that allows you to put your car seat on the stroller so you can have 2 kids no matter the age in the stroller. I get sooooo many comments from people with kids, with out, and with grown kids who say it's the perfect stroller for two kids and they're right it's the best! My friend who has kids the same age as mine has a stroller that's more expensive and it's big and bulky and she wishes she bought mine. It's worth looking into. Other people who didn't take my advice regret the strollers they bought for two and didn't buy the Phil and teds sport with the doubles kit

My kids are about the same distance apart as yours. I got a double stroller because my now-3-year-old LOVES to ride in the stroller. I knew she would be very unhappy if she had to walk when her little brother got to ride all the time. We got a Graco double where the carseat could clip in to either the front or back. We used it a LOT the first few months, even though it was the middle of winter. We use it less now (I pack the single stroller for everyday use), but it is still very handy for walks around the neighborhood, walking errands, and all-day trips. Last weekend, we went to a county fair, and while my daughter didn't spend a lot of time in the double, she did need it a few times to rest her feet.

My daughters were only 15 month apart so I need a double but as they got older I moved to a love'n'care stroller that looks just Like a single but when the seat is upright there is a extra harness in behind so the kids sit back to back. It's perfect fir when one us mostly walking but needs a stroller for rests or when there is alot of people/traffic around or even when they feel like being naughty and can't be trusted to stat with you. Trouble us a baby can't sit upright for the first few months but I would just juggle them with a baby carrier or sling if the older only needed to be in a stroller some of the time. It was hard to find though, I couldn't find it on the net, no shops in town sold it and I ended up asking a woman in a shop where she git hers (eBay) and she sold it to me.

I only have one cold who just turned 5 but I am also a nanny. I take care of a 1 yr old. I got a joovy caboose sit and stand. Its really convenient. My 5 year old walks most of the time but sometimes he gets tired and wants to sit for a while our just stand and ride. The bench in the back also has a seat belt incase you feel better having your 2 year old strapped in. it accepts any infant seat also.

i had my 2nd when my 1st was 3. he was use to his Dad carrying him everywhere. i couldnt carry him anymore cause i was preg and i figured after 2nd was born he would want to be carried still so we got a double stroller. it was a sit and stand stroller the front seat for the baby the back seat for the older one.he could sit facing forward or could change it so he faced backward and could stand up too. he didnt really like to stand up though he always sat. we didnt use it as often as i thought we would it was kind of big even folded and had a tiny car took up the whole back space. but kept it in car in case i was with kids without their Dad and needed it. but i think it would be good for a person thats more outgoing and active.

I have an 18month old and a 4month old and decided to buy a double stroller just prior to baby collin being born and it is soooo nice. It's a sit and stand so it will be useful as they get a little older too. The only downside is how big it is, it takes up a lot of room but i always have it in my suv. It does make life a lot less chaotic cause i have them both in one stroller and it has lots of storage. Its a great thing to have. I say go for it.

An odd piece of advice perhaps, but one I was given by a mum whose daughters are 13 months apart: If you recline a single buggy all the way down, the older child can sit right at the back and the baby can still lie strapped in as usual. I have also used this with two toddlers sitting one behind the other and, while I wouldn't really say it's ideal if you're planning on using the buggy a lot, it does work for occasional use!

My girls were almost exactly 3 years apart when my youngest was born so i decided to buy a double stroller with the 2 seats and I found that by the time we used it my oldest was almost too big to sit in the seat! I would definately recommend getting a stoller with a ride along seat on the back where your oldest can sit on stand and hang on. It would work sooooo much better!

I have a double stroller, and I've used it 3 times total. I got it when my 2nd child was born (she's 15 months now). I recommend getting one if u will be doing alot of outings with both of your kids that way your oldest can ride if she gets tired too or if you are going to be going on vacation with both of your kids. Otherwise I would suggest skipping the double stroller because of the lack of use. I have the Sit and Stand. My kids both love it on the rare occasion that we use it.

[deleted account]

I have a Phil and Ted's Explorer with the doubles seat and I LOVE it!! It's the same size as a single so it easily maneuvers anywhere, unlike most doubles that are pretty cumbersome. Not to mention you can use it as a single which is great if you find yourself lucky enough to only have one kiddo! It's also an all terrain which is awesome because I live out in the country!
