Since you are travelling within Canada you shouldn't need a passport, but you should definitely bring the baby's birth certificate and health card with you.

As for what to pack, just make sure you pack enough clothes and sleepers for the duration of your stay, and keep some extra cash on hand in case you need to get diapers or wipes. You can just buy them in Alberta.

I live in Ontario and I've been to Alberta, the flight is about 4 hours. Your daughter may fall asleep on the plane, it's kind of like a car ride... if not, I would just bring little toys or rattles to stimulate her.

well i have something to say, it doesnt really have anything to do with your question but, when the plane takes off and stuff, you should breast feed her so her ears dont pop! im not 100% sure if it works but seeing as chewing gum works for us i think that would work for her! other then the clothes and diapers, bring spit up blankets! my son spits up a lot and i would be lost without my trusty blanket! ps nice to see someone on here from canada! im from pei!! good luck!!

i traveled with my son when he was a month and half old and we didnt even NEED his birth cert. all they used that for was to make sure they are under 2 years old so that you arent trying to get a infant in lap when you should be paying for a ticket... i was kind of appauled at the fact that i didnt even need to prove my son was mine.. anyone could have my baby and got on an air plane.. freaks me out!!

what i took with me was WAAAAAYY to much stuff.. i was over loaded and thusly stressed out the entire time trying to manage everything.. after traveling across country several times with my son now i have learned.. DONT take youre NICE stroller... they get broken very easily on air planes... buy a cheaper version of your stroller or use a carrier. take enough diapers stuff for 24 hours.. i always took 2 extra outfits because my son at that young age was managing to poop on all of his clothes everytime he went... on take off and landing make sure she is nursing so that her ears wont pop with pressure change and dont let anyone make you feel uncomfortable about breastfeeding your baby on the plane.. if they have a problem with it the stewerdesses are good about moving either you or them (usually them) dont try to pack in a carry on.. if you have to pay the $20 to check your bag it is so worth it! i took my nursing pillow with me (the boppy) and i liked having it because it made my son and i both more comfortable for nursing but it was kind of big and in the way so thats at your discretion.. i hope that this helped..

No idea about travel documents but here's what I know about the rest.

You should breastfeed her on takeoff and landing because the change in air pressure can be painful for the tiny little eustation tubes in their ears. Newborn babies sleep a lot so she will probably sleep through the flight.

Some things to take: disposable diapers are best for travelling even if you usually prefer to use cloth. Wet wipes for changing and cleaning up any spit up, plastic bags to store rubbish, diaper cream - put this on at every change to prevent rash. A diaper change mat for if you have to change her on some public table or floor. A little bottle of alcohol hand-sanitiser in case you can't wash your hands after changing her. Maybe a rattle but she probably won't be interested in toys yet. A blanket or 2 to wrap her and to use as a pillow under your arm to support you when breastfeeding. A change of clothes or 2 for her in case she throws up all over herself - and perhaps you too! Car seat - unless you have arranged one for when you get picked up at the other end. Breast pads for yourself to go in your bra - you might get milk leaking for the first few months and nothing worse than having to be walking around in public with a wet t-shirt. Drink bottle for water for yourself to keep your milk supply up. Some kind of carrier like a Moby wrap could be useful, so you can carry baby hands-free.

I got a great little backpack that folds out to act as a change mat and has lots of pockets for storing all the little things you need to carry everywhere - brand was Great Expectations travel backpack. Can be hard to carry bubs and a shoulder bag of baby gear so it helps to use a backpack.

I am from Buffalo, NY and when I went on vacaation with my son, all I needed was his birth certificate. Since you are not going out of the country, you should not need a passport. Just bring her clothes, enough diapers and that should be it. Since you breastfeed, you do not have to worry about formula. Oh and maybe a little tylenol for her ears, so they don't pop. And I didn't need anything from my son's father. Good luck and have fun!!
